Moving horde inf in 40K

original thread ↗

Hi
I have started an Imperial guard army :D
I play A lot of inf .Approx 100 inf in a 1750p game.
The trouble is that this is a time consuming process to move all these models.
In friedle game it is no problem. But in tournament with a time limit it is.
I move as fast as I can.To not delay the game.

Any idea how to move this horde in 40K ?
Fantsy movmennt trays
or WAR OF THE RING the rings movment trays.

Does some  of you have any experiance of this issue in 40k?

Thanks
Movement trays are not going to help. they'll just get in the way of terrain.

The real key is practice. Lots of practice.

Don't measure for each individual dude. Measure for the first rank and then move everyone up the same amount.

Using both hands to move models(two at a time) is a good way.

A decent ork player can move 30 boyz in about 15 seconds assuming there arn't other complications.

Exactly what Grey said.  I (used to) play horde Sisters of Battle (four squads of 20, and that was just the troops), and even with the occasional issue of balancing metal models on terrain I never had issues with time.  If you're in a fairly odd, blob-like formation, do it just like Grey says: move and measure for the forward rank, then free-hand the rest.  If you're semi-squared up, then it's even easier.: simply measure for the outer two, maybe a more central model depending on how wide your frontage is, and then free-hand the others.

Part of it is simply planning out your moves before hand.  In the first two turns of the game, when an assault is either unlikely or impossible, then you should honestly know exactly where you intend to move before your opponent's shooting phase is over.  The only thing that would affect it would be a unit failing a panic, which is much more unlikely in 40k.

And if part of the problem with moving so many models is because you're fielding 2+ Tervigons, then simply place the models in the microwave and set it for 30 minutes.  Problem solved, and you'll be both a better player and a better person for it!  :D
Can microwaves even effect plastic models? Plastic is non-polar and you need polar molecules for microwave radiation to do anything.

Fair enough regarding the models, but not so for any paint on them; it will burn, with unpleasent consequences for the model.
Right, that'll do it.

If you are planning on running in the shooting phase I'd ask your opponent if you could just do it at the same time as regular movement. That can save a lot of time.
Really? Is this  really what we are talking about?
yeah, it doesn't interfer in the early stages of the game and can seriously speed stuff up.

Warlord Games have some 3-4 or 5 men strong movement bases for their Bolt Action range if that's any help.
