Formation question

original thread ↗

Can you run a unit in a 1 by 3 formation?   Leaving one model for base combat, one support attack model, and one to soak some wounds?

My base idea is 3 maneaters in a conga line, with stubborn and itp.  You could go further with a unit champion and issue challenges to potentially reduce incoming attacks.

Just thinking out loud, thoughts?  Legal?

Um...

Yes, it is technically legal. The infamous conga line.

Let's just say doing this isn't going to win you any friends. It's generally regarded as a loophole for stubborn units and it's really a "tactic" that will immediately get you the label "that guy". Very much discouraged!
Some opponents deserve such treatment, appreciate the clarification.

Thanks!

It's a fun idea for a friendly setting, or when you want to mess with your opponents' heads. I've never actually thought about running that, m'self, but yeah, it'd be worth it.

And, yeah, if you use it once in a while, I'm sure nobody would mind, but if you use it all the time and esp. at tourneys and stuff, I kinda agree with Gutlord Inquistor. It's no good coming with interesting builds when no one wants to play against you :P

But, if you try it out and have fun with it, why not? Having fun is an important part of the game... Well, as long as it's not necessarily at the expense of others, of course, BUT still... :P
24 Gnobs! Wow, 2 sets, crazy!
Toothy, Workie, Sir Reginald, and Busty (for the bus explanation)!

43/101 Achievements earned! Woo! Got some of the tricky ones!

New book WLD: 17/8/2 ... A good quick game to get me re-invigorated, glad it was a win either way lol

I'd do something like that if you are worried about fitting the unit into combat next to another unit.

Doing it to minimise damage back is an abuse of the rules.
Really? Is this  really what we are talking about?
There are certain things that are just not done. There's the fanatic slingshot, the double eagle pin, the building reform trick. If you don't know what any of these are, I'm not telling you, it's safer that way.  8)
The double eagle pin has been used against me. I'm quite relaxed when it comes to opponents movement and stuff so I just listed all the mistakes he had made so it was silly he was going to follow the letter of the rulesnow. Convinced him to put the eagle somewhere else.

Ha, "convinced" him to put the eagle elsewhere. I'm imagining you with a club behind your back...
Nah just one of just one of those chicago situations. He pulls out an eagle I pull out a sabretusk...
