Greetings fellow tyrants I figured I might as well start one of these to try and get the extra motivation needed to get the lads finished some day.
The tribe, or the first idea for it anyway, it might change. A crazed slaughtermaster (is there another kind?) is leading the tribe in circles, trying to catch and sacrifice the sun to the Maw.
First up, the stuff that is almost finished. Bulls and Ironblaster:
2nd draft for the BSB, in all his blu-tack glory.
Maneaters, going to try and make some greenstuff coats etc for these guys, never used it before so will be interesting.
Next up, cleaning moldlines and assembling 12 guts and 4 MFC, also waiting for a package of bull and leadbelcher parts frpm ebay so I can start converting some butchers.
Edgler17 Sep 2012
My heaven's butcher finished, except for basing and maybe more blood.
And a "night goblin" maneater, ran out of bodies but needed a 6th for the unit.
MasteroDisaster18 Sep 2012
Loving your Night Gobbo Maneater! Such a simple idea but it looks great, can't wait to see your unit painted up!
Morkash20 Sep 2012
The Night Goblin Maneater is indeed fantastic, I love the idea! The Maneaters will look great when they're painted!
Ogre Achievements: 38/101 Last one: Stake out, Overpowered!
Steam Titan21 Sep 2012
is that solid greenstuff or did you fill it in with something to make it not so much greenstuff?
8th Edition Battles: W-2 D-1 L-1
Edgler21 Sep 2012
Thanks! The gobbo has been painted and will be posted later today together with the first 8 ironguts when they're finished. The body is made from normal putty.
Edgler22 Sep 2012
Apologies for the crappy pictures, but it's 4am and I wanted this done before I go on vacation.
The Gobboeater
And the 'guts, they'll get some lovely blood when the last 4 are done.
Brork Bonegut22 Sep 2012
Man, that yhetee is cool... Wish I could paint like that.

Small mournfang update.
MasteroDisaster12 Oct 2012
All good stuff here! As predicted the Night Goblin ME looks effing epic now he's painted! The rusting effect you've used is also one of the best I've seen, looks really good but it does look extremely similar to the blue hue you've given the stone weapons on your Ironguts. Your army is gonna look amazing when it's all painted up. Cant wait!
Edgler17 Oct 2012
Thank you ^^ I'll take a pic of all of them together once the mournfang riders are completed. Then I just need to decide if I should stick to the cracked earth wasteland bases, or switch to something you can bring a little more life to.
Last 4 'guts done.
Edgler18 Oct 2012
Banner and better quality pics inc after weekend.
Edgler25 Oct 2012
Got distracted and have only basecoated the banner, however, butchers! Beasts and Maw have been planned, Death inc sometime next week probably when the bitz arrive. Terrible phone pics again, brother borrowed the good camera to take pics of his newborn.
Edgler26 Oct 2012
Will hopefully be able to paint one of them during next week.
Edgler29 Oct 2012
MasteroDisaster29 Oct 2012
Wow! Your Butcher/Slaughtermasters look great! I particularly like the one on the right with the Maw symbol on his back. Have a Gnoblar on me.
Edgler29 Oct 2012
Thanks! I'm not overly happy with the color of the "flame" though, a friend was painting chaos and I believe I might have been corrupted.
Brainfreezer31 Oct 2012
It looks like the donut from Larry's in the Simpsons. Cool job on it!
jonnyandbex31 Oct 2012
how have you made the blood?
Edgler31 Oct 2012
Tamiya clear red, a touch of black, and UHU glue to get it thick and gory. Have to be careful not to add too much of the glue, the mix gets slightly lighter from it and might end up looking nothing like blood.
Edgler04 Nov 2012
Death to the world.

BOOM! Hur hur hur... Always loved that part of the old army book, had to add a small nod to the misfire caused by the ogre stuffing a gnoblar into the cannon too. Might not be as effective, but I think it would be very unpleasant to get blasted with bodyparts picked up from the battlefield (or from the feast before). Found an old empire or dwarf cannon in a bitz box and had to make a 5th.
BSB! I believe this is the final draft for him, might even get to paint him this month.
warlordsteve09 Nov 2012
nice work on the leadies...I love you 5th one, looks really good.
BSB to me looks a little over the top....I love the big banners, but I feel this may be too much
My Armies: Empire Ogres
Edgler09 Nov 2012
Thanks, 6th one will probably just be a base filled with gunpowder barrels and ammo. I was going for over the top so that's excellent, I feel like it fits with ogres and all their big name bragging ^^
jonnyandbex10 Nov 2012
cheers for that, can i use regular super glue for the blood? get that tyrant/bsb done mate am looking foreward to it
Edgler11 Nov 2012
I don't think the glue we use for models will work no, the UHU glue is very stringy and thick, the GW glue hardens instantly when it comes in contact with the paint anyway iirc. Armour almost done on the BSB now, so might be done by next weekend if I get the time.
Grizzlybeer12 Nov 2012
Great looking models, can't wait to see more!
Are you planning to base your army?
Edgler12 Nov 2012
Thanks, and right back at you! Will have to buy a stonehorn/thundertusk before I make the next couple of mournfangs so I can steal your spear idea, if you don't mind. They will be based eventually, waiting for my cork to arrive atm, and need to buy new yellow tufts.
Edgler15 Nov 2012
Not an ogre but, he's mean enough.
Johnny-Crass16 Nov 2012
Looking fantastic mate
Edgler20 Nov 2012
I had an idea when I assembled the black orcs, and I had to make it a reality. New ironguts musician:
Johnny-Crass21 Nov 2012
Mind sharing how you did that yellow armor?
Edgler21 Nov 2012
Certainly, based it with a few watered down layers of averland sunset, a heavy wash of devlan to make it dirty, and edge highlights with sunburst yellow. The scratched parts were painted sunburst, then scorched brown inside the yellow, and finally chainmail inside that.
Edgler23 Nov 2012
Finally did something about the empty bases! I'll paint them tomorrow most likely, still need to get tufts and pigments to finish them though.
Edgler25 Nov 2012
Didn't make any progress on the bases, but, bsb!
Edgler30 Nov 2012
Will get the real one eventually, but for now this guy will serve as my firebelly.
Edgler04 Dec 2012
Ok, big update with bases.
Mr. Cthulhu04 Dec 2012
Wow, I love those bases, especially the IB running something over! Unsuspecting Gnoblar perhaps? hahaha
Great job on all of them!
They call me MR. Cthulhu! AAAAAHHHHHHH!
Brainfreezer04 Dec 2012
Wow I love those bases! May I ask, how did you do that blue verdigris on your Ironguts? It's amazing!
Edgler06 Dec 2012
Thanks! I'm much happier with these bases than the ones I started doing (can be seen on bulls in first post). The irongut verdigris is done with watered down VGC jade green, 4 water 1 paint or something like that, I'm going by how it feels ^^
Tozon06 Dec 2012
Amazing work - that is a beautiful looking army!!! Have a gnoblar on me
Tozons Mountain Eaters! Blog here
Edgler10 Dec 2012
Thanks for the gnoblar, maybe he'll be promoted to a look-out. Managed to squeeze in some painting in the weekend and made a bit of progress on the bsb. Not much left to do on him now, highlights on all the skulls, the gemstones on the stonehorn, banner poles, and a few bits n pieces I'm putting on once it's all painted.
Heimdall10 Dec 2012
Great collection you got there! I like the original use of colors, works superb.
Mind I ask how you made that blood/gore? Been looking for good tutorials .

I started toying with the idea of painting the gems on the stonehorn as warpstone (maybe the skaven aren't delusional!) and it got me thinking that maybe I should paint all the stone weapons like that too, change it from the blue I've done so far. First test, rather pleased with it.
Heimdall14 Dec 2012
I prefer the green/warpstony myself. Gives a nice contrast to the overall colours!

Edgler14 Dec 2012
Painted about half of my old blue weapons as warpstone now and I'm happy with it, will probably have to give in to my other skaven urges and use clanrats for gnoblars (on the rare occasions I use them) and WLC as IB. But that's a thought for the future.
Edgler16 Dec 2012
Finished my BSB, yay. On the last pic the angle of the chain looks wrong but it's just the pic, it hangs straight down ^^ The purple banner isn't glued in place and I'll use that as a magic banner "marker"
Heimdall16 Dec 2012
Solid paintjob. Solid indeed! I espescially like the yellow and the use of the standard thingie for shield. Never thought about it myself but ogres with shield look winning!

That is one really nice looking BSB. I also had the idea of using that stonehorn bit for the banner support but to instead have a huge banner hanging from it modelled in green stuff.
What did you use to fixate the chains?

Can't agree more with the above, brilliant job! I'm going to have to nick that shield idea when I build my alternate Tyrant! Good Work!

Thanks guys, glad to be able to inspire some and not just get inspired!
What did you use to fixate the chains?
Thin superglue.
Worked some on a maneater I recieved 2nd hand a while back, he was missing hte right arm, the sword, and gutplate, gnoblar etc.

Almost finished now.

Unit champion for my 2nd group of ironguts.
And I finished the rhinox riders, will use them as mournfangs most of the time I guess, most of my friends don't want to play against them The stonehorn/thundertusk is fully magnetized so I can switch it around.
Edgler23 Jan 2013
2nd irongut and bull units just about ready for some paint.
Not sure who to use as champion for the bulls, quite fond of the one with the "en garde pose". What do you think?
Edgler25 Jan 2013

Edgler01 Feb 2013
Finished the first 2 bulls of my 2nd unit. Hoping to get started on my stonehorn/thundertusk this weekend, 2 days of painting at my brother should see some progress.

The Bruiser great weapon and a chaos chosen axe I think.

Love your blog, painting and modelling level is very high here so it's always a dream to check back and see your new stuff.
I really love that mini and it pops up a lot now on this site. Your painting of it is one of the best without a doubt, the only bit that doesn't quite seem up to your usual standard is the white hair, but that's a small price to pay considering how awesome the rest if it is!

Thank you, coming from you that's great, with your excellent warriors progressing nicely. I agree with you about the hair, couldn't get it to look right so just couldn't be bothered fixing it.
Signing out for quite a while now, work is taking me to another town for 6 weeks and I'm not bringing the comp. I'll hopefully get some painting done (bought a bunch of necrons) so maybe I'll have something to show when I go home over one of the weekends.
Happy painting and gaming!
Belchfist Beastkiller24 Apr 2013
Well, look forward to catching up with you after your 6 weeks!
The hair doesn't look bad it still looks good, and the facial hair is perfect it's just the detail on the topknot I think. But it's really not that big a deal!
