The Stronghold Colleges of Ogre Magic

original thread ↗

Hey guys, I'm converting a second Firebelly with an ice theme instead of fire (inspired by the fire and ice army by Dave Grant), but I'm stuck for ideas of what to use to cover the gaping hole in his gut. I'd like to avoid giving him a green stuff belly, and would prefer to have something that would fit the theme in some way rather than using a regular gut plate.

Any ideas? :)
Maybe get a gut plate you like, make some icesiciles hanging off of it or cover with with snow or ice. That sounds pretty cool by the way.
I like it! Maybe I could use one of those Irongut gut plates with the spikes and have a few icicles hanging off those...

Cheers!

That sounds pretty cool by the way.

Pun intended? :D
that would probably work. I'd say that or maybe a frozen beast head or such. could also just do the beetle in an ice theme and say its an ice beetle he ate instead or something

Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man and gave Jesus his favorite gift, a beard. The other wise men were so hacked off, they got Chuck Norris removed from the bible. Mysteriously, they all later died of Roundhouse kick related injuries.

Maybe... muhahaha
I agree with the icicle gut plate idea.  Plus we have easy access to ice weapons from yhetees for this guy.

There is also the frozen prisoner from the thundertusk set for a possible base decoration (or at least his head).

Perhaps some icicles coming off his beard or moustache?  :D

Yup, I need to track down a Yhetee ice sword...
I'd love to see some pics of this! Please post  WIP.

Nothing much to show at the moment but when I've gotten hold of the bitz I need I'll post up a pic or two :)

I also recently did a bit more work to the Beasts and Heavens Butchers I previously posted on the forum (wasn't completely happy with them before so didn't paint them), and aim to convert a Butcher for every lore available to the Ogres (The Stronghold Colleges of Ogre Magic ;)).

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
So awesome.
Looking great  :D

Really like the Heavens one especially.
Cheers guys! :D Couple more to show today...

Maw Butcher (just a couple of new weapons):

Death Butcher (really pleased with how this conversion turned out):

Wow the maw fella looks cool but the Death Butcher suits totally.  Great use of the bone seat parts from the stonehorn set!  :D

Even the mini bird from the Grave yard set is well placed.  :)

Waiting on a bit for my Firebelly, then I'll put up a pic of him.

This made me laugh!  The thought of an Ogre moonwalking on to the battle field shouting "heeheeeeee!" fails to leave my head now!  :D

In all honesty Hragged, you could probably try sending these into GW, what with the blog and revamped WD apparently featuring loads of sent-in stuff. I'm sure they'd chomp at the bit to see relatively simple yet cool conversions with unique applications of GW bits.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
Wow! these are some amazing butchers!
I specially like the Heavens one. Would you care to breakdown which bits you used for this one? I see legs, body, and head from the stonehorn set, but where does the book and symbol on the standard come from?

Gonna have to steal that scythe idea for my death butcher!
