Kill. Feed. Repeat. - Ogre tactic videos

original thread ↗

Hey guys and ladies (?  :>P),

I have started a series of Ogre "tactic" videos on youtube. These are ment to help me and hopefully others, think about what our army has to offer. Please let me know what you think of the video, or any critiques and future discussion topics.

Hope you enjoy:

*I will also try to get around to some Ogre bat raps
Great vid Tryptic! I've added it to the Stronghold favourites channel, have a Gnoblar! :>D
Another good usage is to charge an enemy unit behind an enemy chaff screen if you know your Ogres will get into contact with the screened unit after they decimate the chaff. Then you get to fight again and not wait for the other players magic phase.
Also take this into consideration when using the second tactic of getting an enemy unit into your big unit via overrun to get your magic phase. If something can charge your main unit, you're just giving away the chaff an losing your precious plans. ;)
Great video! Thanks.
Great video.  Well done!  I'd love to see more of these.
Thanks for all the feedback guys  :D  I just put up another video. Let me know if there is some topics you would like to see.

@Frost Jotun - You sir, are correct. I was aware of this but it slipped my mind when making the video. Great Point. Just be careful of angles since you can only overrun in a strait line ! Don't run into your sabretusk on accident.
I'm digging your videos.  Keep 'em coming!  Great stuff.

I'm new to Ogres and your videos really helped me with some basic knowledge. Thank you! Keep going!
Quick newbie question, but which rules are you referring to when you talk about getting your magic phase? Are you talking about not being able to cast certain spells if you're in close combat?

Loved the 'tusk video. I just played my first real game ever and it was against my friends' WoC. He was moving his knights and three chaff units of warhounds toward my main block of IGs, I decided to charge one of my sabretusks into a dog pack and ended up winning combat and overrunning. This caused a chain reaction that sent both his other hound packs running for the hills (one running through my ogres causing another two casualties) and rolling low and his knights turned tail and ran too! I had one lone cat in the center of the table in a ring of chaos. We both learned a lesson on keeping a 6" bubble for easily killed units.

I believe in that sense what I was referring to was regulating important combats so they happen on your turn. So if a situation occurs where you are unable to get the charge off on your turn, allow the player to charge your chaff and overrun into your unit. This means you are fighting next turn after your magic phase allowing you to buff your unit. Admittedly, a situation where this is more beneficial than simply redirecting the enemy unit to an angle where you may charge them next turn rarely occurs and is more of a last resort if you cant redirect the unit out of the way. Just be very mindful of allowing your opponent to overrun into a new combat and letting them fight twice in one turn!

Hope this helps and feel free to ask about any topics I havent covered, maybe ill get around to some new videos.  :>P
Maybe another vid on maneaters vs. Mournfangs  I think that they're very different, like greenskins to stuntys, but they are way too vital to our army, to not compare and contrast them
