Greater chaos spawn in an ogre list

original thread ↗

Going to a tourney in a couple of months with my Ogres, and they are letting people have one scroll of binding upto 315 points i think it is. I have decided to go with the greater chaos spawn.
What are peoples thoughts on this unit?
How do people suggest i use him best?
and am i ok using one of my chaos spawn from my chaos list, as in the base size or is he bigger?

The spawn is quite nicely powerful, I'd mark him with slaanesh to make him most effective. Being T7 with multiple wounds and unbreakable he could be used well holding up a flank on his own, or with help from a sabretusk.

Model wize, he has a large base size: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/Product/AlternativeFW/large/Spawn8.jpg, so you may find some opponents will have a problem with playing him on a 40mm base.

If it's the idea of the spawn you like then I'd say go for it, he is rather good. If you were just looking for a nasty chaos beastie, then I think the Spined Beast is a little more competitive, especially when marked by Slaanesh.
Guinness.
Havnt got the book on me atm but what does the psined beast offer? and that model to be fair does say it doesnt come with a base and it is only there so you can see him, you coule put him on a smaller base? i got no problems with him being bigger but i aint buying that model for how often i will use it lol. got three spawnies already.

And i was thinking slaanesh. normally when playing chaos would be nurgle due to being nurgle themed army but i got a nice spawny that is pink and will be good for slaanesh

I'd agree with the above with using a 40x40 base (if that's what yours is on).  Makes it quite good in regard to avoiding cannons and minimising attacks back in.

If you plan on using it on the base it is on I would recommend checking with the TO that they are okay with that.

Cheers

The rule in tournaments that I generally go to are they have to be on the base they are bought with (I sometimes go to ones at warhammer world). Giants can vary in base size because of this due to the base size changing in editions. Trying to put a marauder giant on a current edition giant base size means that you have to have a crab walking giant, which I have done. If it comes with a bigger base then it's not your fault, as you are only using what came with the model.
