Ironblaster conversions

original thread ↗

I plan on having at least 2 ironblasters, but i do not want them to look the same (i am mostly talking about the cannon itself) So can anyone suggest some conversions to be done to it, or some other GW kits that could be ''Ogrefied''?
Do you have two Ironblaster kits to start from or planning to buy them?

I had two scrap launchers that I wasn't using so I have started to modify them.

Both are just using parts of a large KFC straw for the cannon and have been using greenstuff to create the rounded shape.

One was made to try and look kind of like a standard cannon on the back of a Rhinox  but with the second one I didn't have a spare ogre so I'm trying to make it have Gnoblars pretending to be an Ogre controlling it.

One I really wanted to do was to use the scrap launcher basics and create a steam powered cannon on the top using an old Killa kan body from my 40k Orks for the boiler but couldn't bring myself to take one apart.

Using the bones and extra bits to try and form the cannon itself would be awesome, the large goats head type standard that comes with the battalion box could be used as handles?

Might do that last one myself  :P

Hope that helps with some ideas, greenstuff and similar products are great to test any ideas out with.
My horde of beastmen against your ogre horde?

Ok but I get a horde of Leadbelchers.
I'm using a gnoblar steam tank as a ironblaster.
Really? Is this  really what we are talking about?
You could always let a giant hold the cannon.
My hood is my castle...
Forge World Rhinox Rider with Leadbelcher arms. Simples.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
When the book first came out I got 2 old Scraplauncher kits and scratch built 2 Ironblasters, both using Empire cannons.

One has the cannon on a ramshackle platform on the Rhinox's back. The other is being towed like an artillery piece. Both have Gnoblars pretending to be an ogre.

Now I just use them as Scraplaunchers now that I have the real kits.

Strokes and folks and all that, but what possessed you to buy a pair of the most frustrating items ever to assemble in the entire history of human endeavor when there was a lovely plastic kit just released?

No doubt he meant he already had them.

If not, self torture FTW! ;)

I actually made them a month before the book came out. They were on sale too.

Judging by the amount of time it usually takes to build one, I presume you bought this pair upon the initial release?  ;)

I did this guy a little while ago. Plan on doing another as well.

Mine was a mash between the old scraplauncher and some parts from the new ironblaster (Rider and cannon)

Hahaha, no kidding! I have one of those, and when I took a year hiatus from the game, when I got back into the hobby my buddy shipped me all my Ogre stuff, and, swear to goodness, the only part of that darned kit that was still together was the bloody Rhinox... 3.5 hours later and I was still cursing fate. lol

Um, but yes, back to the reason of the thread...

I'm planning on, for my 2nd IBlaster, having it being held on the shoulders of two ogres, although I haven't decided whether I want the cannon resting on the back of the front ogre with him slouching a bit, or having it be on top of the shoulders of both ogres. Oh, and I'm planning on having a li'l Gnob with a torch flailing about on top of it, y'know, to actually light the fuse :P
24 Gnobs! Wow, 2 sets, crazy!
Toothy, Workie, Sir Reginald, and Busty (for the bus explanation)!

43/101 Achievements earned! Woo! Got some of the tricky ones!

New book WLD: 17/8/2 ... A good quick game to get me re-invigorated, glad it was a win either way lol

So something akin to me my warp lightning cannon?

I think maybe have the back guy standing rather than crouching or the cannon will end up pointing to the sky too much.

Good luck

Empire
Ogres
Yeah, something like that! That's a whole lot fancier for your WLC than what I was even expecting from my own IBlaster :P It looks very good!

Hey guys :) was wondering if you could help!
Like you all I hate the current IB model! what were they thinking :(

Anyway recently seen someone model their IB and ogre on the back of a stegadon!
"Dude wheres my car" springs to mind :)
Didn't get a picture of it because I was in the middle of winning a game :) However the guy does not play locally so I probably wont see him for some time, if again. Does anyone know of any pictures on the web that cover the same sort of idea???? I cant find any :(

Thanks

I mentioned it earlier in this thread but since it is finally done I will post the finished product.  It is a stegadon converted to look like a turtle.

Hope that helps!

You can find a couple more pictures in my gnoblog here

For those that have the giant holding the cannon, how do you pose the arms to hold the cannon?

Im stealing this :P Gnoblar style
Ψ I am God's holy beast Ψ
Eh... I really ought to get a picture of mine now that its put together >.<

Cannon and carriage being pulled by a steam tank engine!
You strike it...
My hood is my castle...
I've got to find my jewelry chain at some point, as I'll be adding some between the boiler and the main carriage, because the planks in the middle look too flimsy. Then she'll get painted up and then the cannon will be strapped down with more chain, and the Ogre will be holding onto some chains going to the cannon, so he can adjust the aim somewhat.

I've only toyed with the thought and don't think I'll go through with it - but if you just turn the carrige around and aim the cannon like on Entreri Bloodletter version, it looks cool.

It doesn't really work well with an Ogre standing in front of it though, so a Gnoblar crew and a Rhinox pulling the thing would be the way to go (perhaps putting an Ogre on the Rhinox if you really want one on there).
It does not fit on the base though, so could be ackward if charged in the rear arc.  :P
Maybe use 4 empire cannons to make like a quad cannon launcher in replacement of the titan cannon?
TLK
True that! The empire cannons are whimsy and thin. I am currently looking at using a mortar barrel (but it is very short).

Here is my conversion ironblaster.

I also had 2 iron blasters and wanted them to look completely different from each other. So what do you guys think. When I took the pic I hadn't finished up the 6 Gnoblars and the Ogre that rides it. But I have it 100% done now and when I get some time to retake the pics I will. But for now this should do.
  I love it!

Tell you what... I'll give you a gnoblar if you post it to me, sound fair? ;) :P

Cant wait for some close ups on this beastie!
