Hey,
I wrote out a huge Hobgoblin army list, and was thwarted when I found out I neglected some basic warhammer fluff, for instance that greenskins don't have female counterparts!
The truth of it is, I think many people who read the list still had a 5th edition outlook at hobgoblins, and I was going for something more within the 6th edition "grimmness" and I was also going for something original: Sneaky gits and hobgoblin bolt throwers are chaos dwarf entities, not the hobgoblins of the steppe. To me, these two sects are as different as high elves and wood elves.
I am really on a kick of historical nomads. I find the mongolian and hun hordes to be awesome to learn about, and I think that the warhammer world could use some cool new armies. The idea here is to add a BUNCH together to make each one seem new and interesting, but not too different because there are a few.
So far, I have ideas of putting together four lists into a Warhammer: Nomadica compilation. These armies include the Hobgoblah Empire, the Yakkan, and a north native-americanesque army from the west of Nagaroth. I would also LOVE to make an aboriginal-themed army list from some forgotten islands, based on some dwarves who were, long-before the book of grudges, exiled to some island (the name Exalia comes to mind) and became an entirely different culture. A cool way of having another dwarven race that isn't just "evil version of said army." This compilation would be a great home to the Kislev army list GW made a while back.
Hobgoblah Empire will be a list which is based on the mongolian hordes, is very similar to the other list I posted, and has some rich fluff to go with it. The Steppe is just to the east of the Mountains of Mourn, and the southern steppe is home to the Great Maw. The Empire is expanding under the rule of the newest Khan, and the Hobgoblins are cowardly warriors, who are amazingly profficient with bows, with very little infantry.
The Yakkan are yak-things which live north above the Steppe, in the tundra that borders the Steppe from the chaos wastelands above. No one is sure if the Yakkan, which look like a cross between a shaggy ogre and a minotaur, are in fact mutated ogres, mutated minotaurs, or a race entirely their own. They have grown very hard and violent from the constant hobgob raids from the south, and the chaos incursions from the north. Be a list in some ways similar to the Ogre Kingdoms list, but incorporating a more cavalry and chariot aspect, and less if any "little guys." Based loosely on ancient Siberian tribes.
The Native-Americanesque army is totally unconcieved. I'm thinking a human list with horses.... I don't know yet. Gotta look into any remaining scraps of Native-American mythology and stuff from the groups that lived in north america. Fluff would be that the are in constant warfare with the Dark Elves, but the DE keep this under wraps, and use the wars to fuel their lust for sacrifice.
This would give Warhammer an entire group of Nomadic-type armies to the game, which I don't think would be a terrible thing. With the new edition apparently cutting back on cavalry, this will be an attempt to keep these types of armies playable.
Let me know what you guys think, and I would love to just have random ideas thrown at me.

PS these lists would be much less involved then my previous hobgob empire one.
