Hey guys, So i just thought of this crazy idea. Can Skrag join an unit of mournfang? Im quite new and is it possible that this helps him survive better untill the end of the game? Or is it completely useless?
Cleavelander19 May 2012
He can join a unit of Mournfang. If he does so, the unit would move at M 6 without swiftstride.
As for protection, he would be better protected than being alone because shooting attacks would get distributed between he and the unit. However, he would not benefit from a look out sir roll. To get a look out sir, he must be in a unit of monstrous infantry because Skrag is a monstrous infantry model.
For the best protection, put Skrag into a unit of bulls, leadbelchers, ironguts, or maneaters. The mismatch of base sizes does not remove his benefit of a look out sir roll.

But Skrag must be on the side of the unit. Is this more effective than having him run alone?
grey templar20 May 2012
Yeah, it keeps him safe from cannons and most spells. He also doesn't displace an Ogre for impact hits and attacks(which means you get an extra one)

Given that skrag is the length of 2+ ogre bases, does he count as such for rank bonuses?

Given that skrag is the length of 2+ ogre bases, does he count as such for rank bonuses?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: No because in the BRB, pg 98 it says:
"If a character's footprint does not fit neatly into a unit, place him on the edge of the unit, beside the front rank, facing the same direction as the rest of the unit, as shown below. In this case we do not assume the character's footprint to be filled by rank-and-file troops, and the character is ignored when working out the number of ranks in the unit and if it counts as a horde."

you could put the dragon hide and if it works ,a lookout gnob on a bsb then put him in the second rank and give the mournfangs the swiftstride banner if there is one.
I'll look it up when I next look at the BRB

Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man and gave Jesus his favorite gift, a beard. The other wise men were so hacked off, they got Chuck Norris removed from the bible. Mysteriously, they all later died of Roundhouse kick related injuries.

Lookout gnoblar will not help if he is in the MF, because they are MCav while Skrag is MInf.

Okay, so is it still worht it to put him with some bulls?
dirtycrabcakes22 May 2012
Depends on what you mean by "worth it."
A unit of 6 bulls is way too small, except in small games.

540 6x1 Gorgers
250 Stonehorn Harpoon ------ 2498
grey templar22 May 2012
I'd put him in with a unit of 9-12 bulls/Ironguts.
Then put him in the center of your army. He is a gutmagic caster afterall and you will want things to be in buffing range.
