Gregatrons Ogres

original thread ↗

Hey all! So I'm new to the ogres but enjoy painting and doing painting blogs so thought i would jump in here :)

I picked myself up a batallion, some gnoblars, a scrap launcher and a couple of boxes of mournfang last week and just finished off my first unit tonight, 6 Ogres :)

Any feedback would be appreciated, i havn't gone down the tattoo route yet but i may do in future :)

For basing i have gone with an "iced lake" scheme. 2 shades of blue wet blended onto the base, 1.5 mm clear plasticard on top, crackle medium drybrushed white and snow scattered on top :) These were the first ones i have done and so i have learned a few lessons so future ones will hopefully be better :)

So yeah, here's part 1, tomorrow i think i shall start my scrap launcher :D Gotta love those Gnoblars

Looking good! The bases look especially good.  ;) How did you get that real glossy look for the blue ice? Thanks!

Hey Chris, firs off i basecoated the bases a deep blue, then i dripped the same color on really watered down with a light blue really watered down and swished them together a bit to create a nice blend.

After that had dried i gave it a coat of gloss varnish.

Then i stuck on 1.5mm thick clear plasticard and coated that with gloss varnish. Once that had dried i used blotches of Vallejo crackle medium and patches of snow.

Onces the crackle medium had dried i drybrushed the cracks with white then gave a final covering of snow and painted the base rims white.

Hope this answers your question, i'll do a step by step tomorrow or friday :)

Really like those bases!
I have to get hold of some clear plasti-card!  :P
Gnoblars are awesome- I especially like the great conversions and unit fillers you can do with them!
Looking forward to seeing more.
Very nice start to the army.
Looking forward to watching this with pleasure, keep 'em coming! :D

Ohhhh ok then 2 quick sneak peek WIP shots

And an example of why you shouldn't let the gnoblars paint your chariots (They do a half butted job)
