I just use bulls and paint them more nicely and sometimes give them more items.
Cheapest way, I guess
Cormorant on thundertusk ASL rule
Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Bits from other kits help a lot.
Weapon swaps are simple but effective. An Ogre with a Minotaur axe or Kroxigor weapon looks different.
Greenstuffing Chainmail isn't that hard and a few pieces hanging here and there helps. I also like to use other races shields as armor similar to how Ironguts do it.

I'm in the process of making some alternative Ogre Butcher models.. I may make a selection of alternative heads after reading this as I think it a very good idea

check out the extensive gallery of converted & painted GW Ogre miniatures on the Dark Art site...

My maneater conversions have been the following steps (I'll post pics up sooner or later):
Grab bits from ebay and other players for other races..check.
Get pistols from dwarves and empire and some plasticard tubing to make ogre pistols..check.
Grab some normal ogres..check.
Now normal ogres are a little too weeny for a S5 guy imo so I bulked mine up a little.
Bulking means the following:
Cutting legs off, pinning back on in different poses with a gap filled by greenstuff to add height.
Pinning arms on with different angles etc and with a little gap to add more muscle to broaden up the ogres.
Then adding armour, weapons, gear, loot and accessories from the chosen "employer" to make them look badass.

been thinking that a cheap way maybe to use spare heads, gutplates and weapons from the Ogres on top of the Ironblaster / Thundertusk and mournfang Cav.
Kinda means they have scavenged stuff from other dead comrades to upgrade thier own gear.
