I'm curious if this army type is a viable. I'm used to playing as dark elves and recently got into ogres because I love painting them and love their fluff. As with darkelves I took a giant horde of corsairs and relied on okhams mindrazor (sp) to butcher the enemy and noticed if I didn't get it off at the right time my chances to winning the game decreased greatly so I wanted to make an army that relied on no magic but when I played against high elves (teclis) I got brutally wiped. Mind you this was my first battle with ogres and 3k is pretty big to jump into and it was teclis... I had the maneaster to counter him but they got in combat to soon (dragon prince charged). Please if you have any ideas to make a non magic list viable that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and I apologize if this should be in a different catagory.

On a small point list, you can get away with no wizard but even then, i warn you, without bonuses to dispels, magic can be brutal when your opponent has free reign with his spells. And if he fields a level 4, adding +4 to his spells while you add zero, things can get ugly fast.

No magic at all? At 3000? Unlikely. Ogres are weak to nuke spells, and buffs are what most CC armies (like this one) live off. If you insist on trying this, though, a Horde under the Runemaw umbrella should be safe from a lot of things, but I still have my doubts.

would a gutstar list with rune maw help this in anyway thus giving a 2+ save against direct damage and debuffs?

It'll certainly help, but it won't cure all the ails. I'd say you need to bring out all the other tricks - Sniping Maneaters to hopefully pick those mages off, beefy fighting characters that can take on buffed troops and still win, double cannons, all that jazz.

1) Ironguts, not bulls. With no magic, no adding strength to ogres. 2) Horde the guts with a bruiser bsb w/runemaw for some protection. 3) Greasus in the Horde! He will provide the irongut horde with a 4+ ward save. Critical since you will not have a chance at troll guts. Plus, he will provide a ld 9 bubble. And maybe he'll make a wizard or two stupid. I think this is the one scenerio where he is actually useful. I have a friend who wants to play a scenerio where we skip the magic phase. I'm obviously not going with rune-maw, but I am going with an irongut horde with greasus!

It can be done, but why skip out on a whole phase? It's one thing to have a weak magic phase it's another to have NO MAGIC phase.
The lowest amount of 'no magic' I would ever consider running is a lvl2 firebelly with HH and I would have to have a big combat block with Runemaw.

Where are you getting that "4+ Ward save for the whole unit" bit, nells? Greasus' crown provides ItP for the whole unit, not a 4+ save. If it did, people might actually use him, -2M be damned. We'd play Ironguts like a Chosenstar.

Really? In a 3k point game, it's either lvl4+ or nothing for me. The only thing the FB is good for at that point level is blowing himself up and his 1 breath weapon attack. Without another mage there to draw dispel dice out your 2 spells aren't getting through... unless you are 6 dicing and hoping for an IF.
I've run a no-magic list on numerous occasions (even in a SoM game!) and have usually done just fine with it.

Run up into the front lines, use firebreath and use HH. A suicide caddy basically. The only reason I'd give him level 2 is it's better chances for sword of rhuin and I would most certianly six die it.
But like I said that is only an extreme circumstance it's really really really hard to make a competitive argument for magic light/no magic ogres.
