The Dynamic Ogre Project

original thread ↗

Welcome to the Dynamic Ogre Project!

The Dynamic Ogre Project is going to follow my progress in converting an Army full of dynamically posed Ogres.

A few weeks back I had an idea of creating an Ogre model that appeared to be in mid jump, lunging at the opponent. This was very successful. Well someone had to go and make a comment that he looked a little odd in a unit of "static" Ogres. I see your challenge and accept!

As a refresher here is the original Dynamic Ogre.

The first part of this project is going to be a 13 man unit of Ironguts. A hammer and anvil in one. With three characters this makes a very nice 4x4 unit. I've got the foundation of the first 3 Ogres ready to go.

Standard Bearer

Super Leaping Ogre

The "I know Ironguts do not have handgun upgrades but do not care" Ogre

Today I also began work on a multi level movement tray. The goal is to have this be essentially a playable diorama.

Stay tune for more!

I've got a lovely bunch of gnoblars *dodo do do* Here they are all sitting in a row!

An amazingly clever and complex task. I look forward to seeing this in all it's glory! :D

(The only problem I foresee with the multi-layer movement tray is that units behind it will not be able to see or be seen! ;))

What you are doing is very brave ( id never even think about trying it with my limited gs skills) but you have a real talent for this and i cant wait to see more all there is left to say is good luck :) ( btw you could make a fortune out of these , i know id pay at least 3 times gw price for a unit of these painted ... Just a thought ;) )
we are da executors for a reason you stand in our way ... you die hahaha
This is incredible and kinda like the Ogre Kingdom Olympics or something. An idea I had was if you've seen that statue in the USA of the soldiers from World War 2 holding up the American flag while under fire I think? You could maybe do an Ogre version of that? Would be pretty cool.
Great idea Gundehar. That just inspired me for my BSB. Instead of raising the flag like the memorial he can be pole vaulting (Olympics FTW)!

Keep the ideas coming. Lord knows I'm going to need some inspiration if they are all going to be unique.

Another idea I had was you could use the Ninja Maneater and have him doing a fly kick through the air, Bruce Lee style, your whole theme I think kinda has or could have an eastern influence to it with them doing martial arts maybe? Or maybe for a massive project you could have an Ogre flying through the air with a massive sword or cleaver and splitting a Games Workshop Giant in half, with blood and gore splattering everywhere?
Gundehar, I like the way you think. Easter Eastern style Maneaters!

Love it.
I would be dead right now were it not for the heroics of Skywalker!

These are looking sweet.

Just a thought on the rocky terrain on the bases. It might be worth having the majority of the unit crossing on lower boulders. You want it to still look like terrain that a unit can pass through.

I hope you can keep the motivation up for these.
I'm looking forward to seeing future updates.

Great work mate! It really is inspiring work,

My real question is about the paint scheme for the bloke’s skin, it’s the blue that I’ve been trying to achieve for awhile now but just haven’t been able to figure out!

Once again, great work!
Best regards,
-Ian
Both thumbs up!!! love it.

It is a mix of grey, bronzed flesh and a blue. I don't really know the amounts as I mix them up until it looks good, but if I had to guess it would be 2 parts flesh, 2-3 parts blue, 1 part grey.
