Ogre army in 10 days: Updated 02/25/12

original thread ↗

Started working hard on getting the ogres done for Warmasters. So far I have about 5 days work done on them, I'm giving myself another 5 to finish them. It hasn't been 5 days straight, nor will it be another 5 days straight.

I'm going to be adding dead grass, and snow to all the bases, but not till they're all done.

That's a lotta pictures! I'll post more as I finish off the units. Let me know what you all think!
That is very impressive for such a short time period.  Cant wait to see the finished product.  Like the blue flames  ;)

wow only 5 days, super impressed
This is awesome!  :o *drool*
You mean 240 hours of work right ? Because doing that in 5 actual days ? No way

They are ... fantastic. I'm speechless.

Really like the head swap pn your butcher. Changes the model for the better in my eyes!
22/101 Ogre Achievements... Gotta try harder.

Pet Gnoblars:
It's about 5, 6-8 hour days worth of work.

Ive been looking for a long time for a different butcher model as i hated the gw one, I finally broke down and bought it, but the head swap was really all it needed to make it a great model.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.
The integrated basing looks great on the horde!

Keep it up, your colour choices throughout are great, it's looking good.

Only crit is that the horde basing could do with a splash of colour from somewhere or another (tufts or something?)

Thanks Byron, your army has been a large source of inspiration through the whole process.

I plan on adding dead grass and snow to all the bases. I just find it easier to do the whole army at once. So I hope that will give enough colour.

Again, thanks for all the comments guys. Expect an update in a day or two.
Really nice basing on that stonehorn! :)

Think of it as a magic glove, like Michael Jackson use to wear, you could even model your character up grabbing at his crotch.

Man, I love your army so far. You manage to get smooth nice looking surfaces for the ogres skin, as well as cler contrasts on stuff like on the fur of the stonehorn and mournfang!
Keep those pictures coming!
Hell Yes!

Have to echo the comments on the Butcher/Slaughtermaster-Very nicely done :)
Thanks a lot guys,

I've managed to finish off my 5 man unit of bulls (minus 2 heads), and my 3 man maneater unit. I also finished off the bases for the army, adding snow and grass.

Look forward to pictures of day 6-7 tomorrow.
Have a Gnoblar, you're doing a mighty fine job on these, without even taking the time you've done them in into consideration.

Can an army-wide shot be included please (I'll consider this this failed gnoblar-blackmail if it isn't...)

Coming from you that means a lot Byron! Thanks!

I'll be sure to post an army shot when I have the 2200pt list done for the tournament! After that I plan on adding to the army quite a bit, so this should last a little while.

Like I said, be sure to check back tomorrow for an update.

Ok, here's some updated shots. The major changes are the addition of snow, and grass to the bases. I wanted the snow to look like the spring is coming, and the snow is started to thaw. I think I captured that look pretty well!

I only have the mournfang, and sabertusks to finish for the 2200pt list. I plan on adding a few other things later on, but the big push should be done by the end of the week!

First up, the Ironguts

The bulls, missing 2 heads, they're in the mail

Bruiser

My man eaters, they paymaster and his bodyguards.

Stone Horn

Army shot as it stands currently
Looks great!  The snow is a nice set, as usual, for your flesh and grey tones.  I'm most impressed, though, with your saturated yellows.  They really help the army (at least the characters) pop!  Any thoughts as to where else you may be able to incorporate the color?
