BSB Setup

original thread ↗

Hi guys,

I am wondering about how other people gear their BSB's.

My BSB build is currently:

BRUISER: (BSB, HA, Talisman of Preservation, Enchanted shield).
I use him as 'tank' in the front rank of my guts to minimize loses..

I have been thinking if I should echange the enchanted shield with a GW instead ?

How do you kit you BSB?

/J
I run mine with a magic banner (which one depends on my mood)

Then I equip him with a second rank place in the middle in a unit of IG's with full command and 3 wide (or 4 wide with other char in front)  That way he is protected from being killed in cc from all sides.  Only problem I have with this is char sniping spells, but usually armour doesn't help against that anyway. :D
There is only news.  There is no good or bad.
HA, IF, Crown of Command, Dragonhelm, Luckstone.

T5, 3+ AS rerollable once, 6++ parry, 2++ against flaming. He normally doesn't die quickly. I think the main threat for a BSB is that if he breaks, he auto-dies. So to me, he makes a great Crown bearer.
I have mine in the front with a bruiser kitted for hurt, along with an SM (glit+fencers+G Fist),
They are alle a bit tough and takes some pressure of my normal guts.

Have been wodnering about kitting him different though..

What would you guys chose regarding the enchanted shield vs. GW ?

/J

Mine is kitted with: Enchanted shield / Talisman of Endurance / Sword of Striking

3+ armour save / 5+ ward save / Hits on 2s mostly / Able to kill ethereals

I really want him in the frontrank of my Guts together with my Slaughtermaster. No better way to migitate my opponents active combat resolution. Guts are just wounded too easily.

My BSB is typically run the same as Far2Casual's.  I can really attest to the durability of that set-up and I think the Crown is a must-have in my ogre army.

On the few occasions that I run a Tyrant as my general, he gets the Crown and the BSB runs with HA, IF, and Runemaw.

Recent results:  My ogres go 5-0 at Brawler Bash VII and 3-2 (2nd Best General) at Southern Assault 2014
I run hordes, so now that the runemaw has actually begun to do what we expect it to do, he runs with runemaw, HA, and IF.

I run mine with HA, IF, and Standard of Discipline. he hides in the 2nd rank while my SM beats face in the front.
Current win streak: 10

Things Fluffy has flattened: Ancient Stegadon, Unit of 5 Chariots with Tomb king, Chaos Lord, Herald of Khorne on Jugger,

I like the Sword of Striking/Enchanted Shield/Talisman of Endurance myself.  Pretty tough with 3+/5+, and has a magic weapon to deal with Ethereal.  Also hitting most things on 2+ isn't bad.

This is also what I run, exactly. I don't want to have the Crown of Command on a Lord because since I run a tyrant my Lord points are stretched. The luckstone tends to get cut out when I'm scraping for points, but it's a solid build.
What would you guys chose regarding the enchanted shield vs. GW ?

You've already said you run him as a tank, and now you want to reduce his save to a 5+. If you're giving him a GW then it's a change of role and you may want to think about the other equipment as well.

A GW is not a bad option, but you need to think about it a bit more.

The answer to everything is sabretusks.  There is no problem that can't be solved at least in part with kitties.

Does anyone who takes a Rune Maw on their BSB take a Big Name in addition to the magic banner, such as Mountaineater?

If so is there any feedback on its utility?
Latest Fantasy Result: vs. Wood Elves - 2400 points - Win

If you're going to, Deathcheater is the way to go.

Usually he goes in the 2nd rank with CoC and a GW.  Keeps him cheap and protected and still gets some some good hits in.  Sometime will throw in a Charmed Shield, if I'm nervous about failing a LoS roll with him.
