Ok! First let me say thank you for starting this up! I hope we have blast! Good luck all!!!
Second, how do the skills and abilities work? I have swiftstride and scout for example, but we do not have a Movement value so are they mostly for show and roleplaying or does it acually add something to my character?
Also the ability scores. They seem a bit widely apparant between characters. For example take Drok and Gilth. Sure my WS is somewhat higer but with str 4, T3 and 4 wounds I do not think he would last long against Gilths Str 7, T6 and 5 wounds.
I take starting character should be on the same level a bit, so have you worked this all out already and how do we use this ingame, or do we have to work this out together as we go?
Hope you do not see this as whining for I have never played in a warhammer rpg before (d&d a lot though) so I am not really known with the game statistics.

well you see, first for gilt he is not very smart has no skill in shooting, and could use a bit more social tact.
In return he is very strong and tough and prone to bragging.
for your skills you roll under them using a d6 and the harder the task the more six siders you have to roll
I made every character according to description talents weapons and jobs.
And the swift-stride rules.
You are unhindered by any movement impairing objects rocks, bushes, horrible man eating plants with grabbing vines all that rot. Scout gives you a bonus to initiative to sneak past people gives you a -1 d6 to your roll

Gantherogue, I see. As I said I am not familiar with these rules, hence my question. I do not mind being weaker then another character, as long as I can shine in my own way (a bit more BS would help though, I hunt Elves!)
Do you have a format for these things such as special abilities and powers for many things? Do you need us to come with ideas of our own for future stuff?

If people are having problems with dice just copy and past this into excel: =RANDBETWEEN(1,3)
change one / three to the highest and lowest numbers you wish to roll for. A D6: =RANDBETWEEN(1,6)
A d20 =RANDBETWEEN(1,20)

Never done an online rpg like this, mmos and table tops rpg's a plenty, but never a forum free form thing, am enjoying immensely.
Was wondering what sniper and poison allow me to do? I assume sniper means I can fire accurately better than others, possibly shoot both pistols without taking penalties for duel wielding or something. As for poison, I am not sure. ^_^
I have about 6 years table top RP experience, player and gm, mainly D&D 3.5, but also gurps, warhammer fantasy, dark heresy, traveller 2nd ed, cthulhu tech, most white wolf systems but I dislike exalted, star wars (by wotc) and quite a few more that slip my mind atm. I also worked in a gamestore for a while, so I know a little about most roleplaying games currently being published.

We need someone to decide on the loot . If we loot the guard what would we get ? We're at a village so I assume some looting will go under way etc. Does anyone want to regulate the loot while gantherogue is away or should I do it till he comes back ? Or should we wait ?
I don't have much D&D experience so I might not be the best choice.

Some basics for those who are new to this.
When a phrase is Italicized it means these are thoughts. Other characters do not know your thoughts obviously but it is a handy way to gice flesh to your character.

We should wait, he is the gameleader.
He will probably just tell us what there is to loot from the corpse, and then we decide on if we want to keep any of it for later use, may it be a shovel or a few gold coins. Or a map with a cross at Ice Pass.
And darkminion, thanks ^^ haha, I can tell you this, the only thing that would make him frenzy would be if someone hurt his pride, by for example, calling him an idiot. Haha, just don't treat him weird just because he has demon wings and icy skin. Even though it won't make him angry, the ogre still has feelings

I think we should wait for Gantherrogue to return as it is his adventure so he needs to steer it.
Also, Flim Flam, I just read your last post. Ususally in roleplaying games you control only your character. What he ercieves, how he feels, what he does, how he acts. The rest of the surroundings, encountersm what happens next is decided by the DM or GM, in our case Gantherogue. You cannot simply decide that another guard pops up, this is up to the GM.
It could be that Gantherogue will allow this freedom, but in my experience an adventure quickly turns to chaos and loses its apeal if every player simply starts making stuff up on what happes next. Not trying to flame you on this but just trying to give some friendly advice as I played in a lot of PBP games.
Instead of saying you spot another guard you could post something like:
Two-saw gives a thumbs up to Drok as he takes the guard down. Moving up to him he haunches down and whispers: "Yer pretty good with them Elfshooters aint ye?"
He then looks ahead at the village, trying to make out whats going on and making sure no one saw the guard go down.
If you post something like that you are making clear to the GM that you are keeping a close eye on the village. A good GM will then respond back to you on what you see. But you simply cannot decide for the GM what your character spots..

Anyways, I'm going to bed. I guess we're in different time zones, so when I'm not replying for a while (trust me, you'll notice when I'm there as Dayne easily takes command, not because he likes it; just because it feels natural. You can just assume that when I don't reply, Dayne is struggling with the Chaos and prefers not to speak. He will keep pace though.

As I said, not trying to flame you so no sorry required friend! Your doing great! Just trying to help you with some pitfalls!
Also, I understand you are eager to continue. As am I, but Play by Post is a slow form of roleplaying. There are people in different timezones and with different schedules and ability to post. To give everybody time to earn their part in the game it is not uncommen for ony 1 or 2 posts per person per day to take place.
Usually it is determined that if the game cannot be continued for a too long period because a key action by a player is not happening because he is not posting (like Drok shooting the guard) the GM posts in the players name (So say I did not post for a day or to and everybody is waiting, Gantherogue would simply post that Drok took the shot to keep the game going)

Hey Morzokk has poison correct? It wasn't notated on my "character sheet" but stuff about the blowpipe was so I was just trying to confirm one way or the other.

Oh also! I know that it would make the game move much slower but maybe giving each player 12 hours or so to put their "move" in. It would for example result in us being in this town for probably a few real life days but might give a bit more formalty and cohesiveness to the role play. Especially since it seems our group is from all over the world. It would allow for everyone's character to take part in each event instead of just the ones they are online for. Just a thought.

Some advice for you. Try to put some effort in your posts. Remember that the other players (and also other readers) have to go on solely what you are writing down. So just posting: STORM IN with a smiley doesn't really cut it.
At least, if you mean that storm in is what your character is saying, make it:
Olag yells: "Storm in!"
Better even however is if you give some flavor to the words by making the post a little longer and giving some more information. Something like:
Olag looks irritated by the delay and seems eager to charge. He grabs his huge sword tight and with pursed lips he screams:"Storm in!"
Even as he yells through the night he charges into the village, not caring what he will face.

Do you see how by adding some simple sentences gives a whole lot of more meaning to your post? It also is much more enjoyable for other people who are reading our adventure.

euhmmm....how did all you guys end up in the village centre? Morzokk, me and Long Dong are scouting ahead, we shoot down some guy, then Morzokk inspects him and all of a sudden Olag and Flim Flams guy are there.
I'm not saying you cannot be with us, but then post that you do so. Write in your post that your character is moving along with us, so that the story stays a bit streamlined.

I understand. However sometimes the GM will make a description to specivic members of the group. For instance Oleg posts that he is looking at the trees, then the GM answers that there is an elf in the trees. This does not mean that everybody in the group sees the Elf, just Oleg does.

Ya from a logistical stand point its basically got to be a situaiton where you are assumed to be with the group at all times doing the same things as the group. You are just in the background not getting any camra time. haha. Think of it as a movie to where those that are posting are getting some face time to develope their character. Everyone lives on a different schedule which is why he has it set up as a post as you play format. I must admit was a little leary about the way this would work but in reality I think its a great format. Play when you can and when you can't. Dont. Then just take 5 - 10 min to catch up on the story and go from there. Excited to see where this goes!

I'm really starting to enjoy myself. Darkminion, you've actually inspired me, allready come up with an idea for Dayne's fate. I'll try to controll myself though, in respect for your storyline, gantherogue. (I enjoy being the GM of IRL roleplay, so I'm used to really drifting away and giving the players some really unexpected an exciting moments)

Keep doing it! It's cool! In my opinion anyway. I would stop using capital letters only though.....Would just post them as you would normal thoughts....the red lettering makes it very clear it is the deamon speaking.
It adds to the internal struggle he is facing. You also keep hinting that Dayne seems distracted or little hints like that, so that gives us a reason over time to suspect something is up (since we cant read your thoughts afterall). Very well done!

Well, Im not saying you and Gilt should have a deathmatch. That would not be nice indeed. But on the other hands, you two are the biggest and strongest Ogres in our group, so it is natural and fluffy that the two of you compete for leadership in the party.
As for the Deamon....Well, it is a Deamon, who knows what it wants and how it acts. You do not have to have him talk to you in every post. Just do it when you feel like it or you think it fits...

As for the Deamon....Well, it is a Deamon, who knows what it wants and how it acts. You do not have to have him talk to you in every post. Just do it when you feel like it or you think it fits...
Try reading some of the old school malus darkblade comics, they may well give you some good inspiration, I would imagine you can find pdf's of them on the net really easily, in the old inferno magazine iirc.

Just one thing. Please do not confirm how my character reacts to you. How he looks, what he feels, etc are mine to decide. I dont mean this as diresprectfull, since you made such good effort in your post, but once we start deciding for eachother how we react, well, anything might happen.
I could simply post: Drok grabs his Draich and upon seeing the weapon Dayne cowers in fear and wets himself.
Now, this is pretty much exagirated, but you get the point I think.
I know I made some deciscions for Brasstooth, but that is only because Draaka specifically said I could do so for little things while he is away.
Just let it stand as it is now, I worked around it in my own post, so no harm done!

In order of the whole post to be more logical, the only way was to add my interpretation of your reaction, but I guess I could have written "but when he thought about it, he might have scared off Drok more than intended, so he said:"

Hmm.... maybe we should see if any of the ungors is a halfhorn? He might have some intel for our adventure. Or maybe it's just a random ambush thrown at us The beastmen does seem quite random though.

Humor has its limits though....like if our GM decides to let Two - Saw find a Ironblaster Cannon or something!
I think there must more to it. Can't imagine a handfull of ungors attacking an armed group of maneaters by themselves!

Anyhoe, going to sleep. If actions from me are required, I just "play along" with the "charade", killing our opponents and listens to gilt. Gn.
