Large model conversion question

I have been toying around with the idea of doing an ironblaster conversion using a giant or one of the new ghorgon/cygor models.  I plan on having it so the tall model is basically carrying the cannon with the ogre and gnoblars riding him.

The question is: will I have to worry about people arguing that it is now a "large model" for line of sight and rules purposes?  Or will people be ok with it just as a "counts as" model?

I was thinking of marking a point on the model that is the same height of the top of the regular ironblaster model with a hanging gnoblar or something so people could have a visual reference where I could say this is the true height for line of sight purposes.

GW states that line of sight is determined as if you had the standard model in play. This allows for creative modeling.
Your idea about marking the original spot makes sense to me. (Use a gnoblar to mark it?) Anyone who has a problem with this is probably someone you don't want to play. If you are going to a tourney I would just point out where the LoS spot is to each opponent before deployment.  That should solve problems.
Plus you could use the cygor for a giant if you need too.

Also worth mentioning is that Ironblasters already have the Large Target rule.

You certaintly will be giving your opponent more visability, but only with LoS blocking terrain like a building. the official Iblaster model can hide behind a grail chapel whereas your conversion would not.

Your conversion would be disadvantageous to yourself because of the TloS rules combined with large target. Normally your Iblaster might be able to claim cover from a certain building, but your converted one would not.


This is the price of awsome modeling, you might give yourself a disadvantage by doing so. however it will only come into play if you use lots of buildings, or massive boulders, in your games. It won't be effected by forests or hills all that much.
