the start of a new tribe

original thread ↗

hey everyone,

having not touched a paint brush or model in going on 8 years i have decided to fully get back into the hobby and have started work on my first unit of bulls ( have the rest of a battalion completed in all their dull grey glory minus the gnoblars) and thaught a gnoblog would be the best idea to keep me motivated, and to keep track of how my painting improves over time.

I'm still working on a tribe name and fluff, but that will be added in over time, along with bat reps as and when i get the time to play :)

with out further ado here are my first two painted bulls and a unfinished butcher.

the butchers green stuff has been sanded down to smooth it off a tad since the photo was taken but unfortunatly my camera has run out of batteries.

and C&C is very much welcome
IMHO it looks a bit sloppy and wonky on both the first bull and the butcher, your GSing isnt half bad though :)

when i have a big irongut horde i will start singing "we got deathstar (deathstar) we got deathstar (deathstar)"
now i look at the pictures, thing do look a bit wonky, going to adjust a few thing ( the axe was a bit more straight until it had an accident with the floor, was the glue had set when i stopped holding it straight, must have moved a bit lol)   also with the res of the camera the paint does look a bit off compared to the light i was painting in, time for a touch up tomorrow i think
i've got no problem with the painting side of it, it looks fine.

Welcome back to the hobby.
During your absence from painting GW released a brilliant new product called foundation paints. These are thicker paints with a much stronger pigment than normal paint. They are supposed to be used as a base coat, and go on fantastically smooth. I recommend picking some up.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

I like the conversion and greenstuffing on the butcher!
