A gnoblog by Tobgoblin!
A long time ogre stronghold lurker, old 7th ed. ogre player which have just gotten back to WHFB with the new edition.
-About me-
I have played WHFB and other miniature battle games since I was a kid, I think 14-15 years or so. The first time I took fantasy seriously was during the 6th ed. when I started my high elf army. Before then I havent had much more than small scattered armies.
Along came 7th and gave me a new book which I didn't like. ASF was dandy and all but I always preferred to play the underdog so a top tier book wasn't something I craved. So after a while I decided to switch to ogres and all their underdog glory in 7th ed.
I have since then been off the game for a while and returned now we got a new book and painting my ogres looks like a fun project.
At our local club we are a group of four people that have played countless miniature battle games. Two hardcore WHFB players, me somewhat experienced and a player who have barely touched the game but is one fine modeller/painter.
We decided about a month ago to actually play a campaign in which we paint up 250p of troops each month and gather to face eachother while playing on a mighty empires map. I will keep posting here because I like to share my work. Also, wildcards added "ogre achievements" was too much to resist so I just had to go for it.
My plan is to do at least some green stuff work on each ogre and try to individualize them. Besides I just hate how the back of the models musculature was sculpted so anything to cover it up would be good heh.
-The Tribe-
I have based the tribe on the idea that my ogres are slavetraders. They use slaves as currency, food and cannon fodder. I pretty much decided to replace my gnoblars with slaves, explaining their low strength with them being unarmed and explaining loyalty with adding slavehandler humans into the mix. I have many ideas and hopefully they will see fruition during my blogging here.
Color schemes are nothing set. I like the idea of mixing colors within ogre ranks. Hopefully it wont look to cluttered. I will try it out and if I dont like it I can just repaint later. Only thing Im sure of is that Im going with a human flesh tone for skin.
I'm not sure on what I will call the tribe but The Slave Eaters is the first draft. Might get changed later.
The force so far (will update this picture every time I add something):
