original thread ↗

Ok,... New to the Ogre Kingdoms, and I am considering this as a 2500 point army build - any advise is always good and greatfully received!

Got no "hard hitting" boss so to speak, but here goes -

Lord -

Slaughter Master, iron fist, Gut Maw, Sword of Swift Slaying @ 323 Lore or death (possibly)

Hero -

Fire Belly, lvl 2, Dispel Scroll @ 180 Lore of fire

Butcher, lvl 2, Great weapon @ 144 Lore of the Great Maw

Core -

Ogre bulls x 10, with a crusher, Bellower, Standard Bearer, Iron fists, Gnobler look out @ 355

Ogre bulls x 10, with a crusher, Bellower, Standard Bearer, Iron fists, Gnobler look out @ 355

Special -

Mournfang Cavalry x 5, with Crusher - with a brace of pistols, Bellower, Standard Bearer - Dragonhide Banner, heavy armour,  iron fists, @ 436

Mournfang Cavalry x2, crusher, heavy armour, iron fists @ 150

Lead Belchers x 3 @ 129

Lead Belchers x 3 @ 129

Lead Belchers x 3 @ 129

Rare -

Iron Blaster @ 170

As I mentioned, any advise greatfully received!! To the point where you say - crap, start again, do it this way! I honestly don't mind.

Thanks Lee
I think that instead of using 2 units of ogres, you can use one unit of ogres and one with ironguts. They serve different purposes in an ogre army, and using both to your advantage is really good.

A BSB would also be useful, aswell as a hellheart on one of your casters.

Might want to consider second ironblaster too.

These are just my opinons though. Go with what you feel like!

Think of it as a magic glove, like Michael Jackson use to wear, you could even model your character up grabbing at his crotch.

that's 2488 pnts considering another Lead Blaster,... which BSB do you tend to use...
I'd lower the number of Ogres in lieu of more IGs. Ogres last longer and IGs need more kills to win combat. I might consider evening out the MFC too. That unit of five is a juicy target and some decent shooting will panic that unit of two in the first shooting phase.

There is only one ogre BSB... the bruiser. If you really want death on the SM, I don't think you need the firebelly. It's not a bad pick, it's just that the bruiser BSB is more important.

If you need to cut points for the blaster... I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with the 2 lone mournfangs... You allready have a big and tough unit of those. I'd cut those.

As for the larger unit of mournfangs - since you're running the DH banner, you should remove the bellower and the crusher, as you want your standard bearer to be the last unit dying.

You have alot of leadbelchers, so since you're getting a second IB, you can use 2 units of 4 belchers instead (i.e. -2 belchers)

Another thing I missed writing my first post - sabertusks. These guys are so handy as units of one, so I recommend you to buy yourself at least 1 box of those. I'd run 2-3 of them (as said, in units of 1)

Thanks guys,

mmm 4 lead belchers, 2 units.. I am tempted to go for 5 tbh, as once you loose 1 (based on a 4 man unit, your taking tests... whereas, if you have 5,... your needing to loose 1.25 figures...

sabers... got 2,

The 2 lone Mournfangs are mainly there as a flank protector / opportunist unit.

Thanks Kraton, Points noted! I have enough models fortunately to swap them around!

ok... another attempt... after listening to a few pointers... but no Lord...
