gnoblar sharp stuff tactic

1) I actually went to try to align the gnobblar to maximise the sharp stuff and found out that
    you get the most shot against 5 infantry by aligning parallel to them at 6" away.
    19 gnoblars can shoot at this range.
    a) if you move nearer, then enemy are outside your 90 degree firing arc so less model can shoot
    b) if you move further, then more models are outside the 8" range so less model can shoot

2) If you have 50 gnoblars in 5x5 formation and fire at a giant (T5; no save)
    all 50 can fire at the large target at 4+ to hit, 6+ to wound
    ie. 4.2 wounds on a giant
    even when giant charge it you get 5+ to hit,
    ie. 2.8 wounds on a giant

How do you place 50 gnoblars in a 5 x 5 formation?

And why don't they throw two dice each?

I meant 25 gnobbs throwing 2 each, hence 50 in total.
50 points to kill 200 points is really value for money!

But Giants are more vulnerable to missile attacks than nearly any other unit in the game, so it's not really a good comparison. :p

And the chances that you'll get to throw sharp stuff at him at all is rather low.

And how can you get 19 gnobbos to fire at infantry? I didn't know that the back ranks can see.

when firing at a large target, all gnoblars within range can throw stuff.

this is a standard thing for all missile troops in all armies.

try placing 19 gnoblars in a row
 
and the opponent six inch away
                           
exactly 19 will be able to shoot with 8" and 45 degree shooting arc.
