The gnoblog of the Purple Menace version 2.0

A new diary for a new edition! Not that I am particularly observant about keeping diaries, but I thought I might take a stab at recording the final straight of a long and often stumbling race to complete my Ogre Kingdoms army, besides, its worth an achievement point anyway :P
I have had this army for a long time since, but it is only with the release of the second edition of the army that I am finally close to finishing it.

Here are 5 Bulls, the 2nd from the left has a magnetized right hand so I can swap out the mantrap for a banner so I can field the Bulls as a unit of twelve or two units of six.

How can a BSB carry a shield and a weapon? This is how. I converted my BSB from a spare Maneater Paymaster and the champion bits from the Bulls box.
So what is left for me now? Well its mostly a bunch of character models as I never seem to be satisfied with  what I come up with, but I've heard some good advice from a Golden Daemon grade painter, once you've painted a model its done, just set it aside and move on. Damn good advice I think. So here is the list of what needs to be done-

Tyrant- converted from the Avatars of War Ogre.
Slaughtermaster- Scibor "Butcher" miniature.
Empire Maneater.
Maneater Standard converted from a GW Tyrant.
Bruiser with Great Weapon from the GW Tyrant.
Limited Edition Bruiser.
Hunter
Indeterminate amount of Sabertusks, somewhere around the twenty mark I think.
25 Gnoblars
2 Ironblasters.
Of course this doesn't count any additional units I might buy as I am considering the Mournfangs as I thought removing their tusks or even just making them smaller like a wild pig is a good idea and if I can cut down the saddle so the rider isn't sitting so high they might just work... yet I havn't seen the necessity of needing them as my present army formation is doing rather well at the moment.
Actions speak louder than words, unless your eating a mime of course.
They've turned out well. However, the bsb would be very well served by going over the purple design again, so it doesn't look so painty.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Its supposed to look that way because an Ogre painted it, really even amongst their gnoblars I doubt there is a Ruben or Michelangelo waiting to be discovered :)
Anyway this is all for the moment, the next two weeks are devoted to some Malifaux miniatures and then I'll continue with the Slaughter master  and the two Ironblasters.

Great painting, they have a quite realistic look. But I agree about the banner, it's supposed to look like it was painted by an ogre, with a 28mm-ogre-sized brush. The visible brush strokes does not convey that. The dripping paint is a nice touch though.
It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway train—a shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter.

I love the BSB conversion. The use of the Crusher head makes him look as if he is standing upright, proud to carry the tribe's Battle Standard. Details like these really improve a model in my opinion, good job!

So I've been doing some assembling of some other projects, but I managed to get at least a few of my Malifaux painted. I enjoyed painting them so much that I've decided to extend the hiatus another fortnight to complete the crew which, in layman terms, is another 6 or 7 models.

They all look really nice, I really like the freehand on the banner.
