800pts Campaign

original thread ↗

My store is starting a campaign soon, it starts at 800 pts and increases, though how fast and how I am not sure..

I was thinking this as my starter:

800 Pts - Ogre Kingdoms Roster

Firebelly (1#, 162 pts)
. . 1 Firebelly, 162 pts (Blessing of the Volcano God; Fire Breath; General; Ogre Charge; Level 2 Upgrade; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Flaming Attacks; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Potion of Speed

Ironguts (5#, 250 pts)
. . 5 Ironguts, 250 pts (Always Strikes Last; Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Causes Fear; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Standard of Discipline

Ogres (6#, 206 pts)
. . 6 Ogres, 206 pts (Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Light Armour; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Stomp)

Leadbelchers (4#, 182 pts)
. . 4 Leadbelchers, 182 pts (Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Hand Weapon; Leadbelcher Gun; Light Armour; Causes Fear; Stomp)

I tested this today and was pleased at how it worked, except I was thinking of dropping the firebelly to lv1.

I also just wrote up this list:

800 Pts - Ogre Kingdoms Roster

Firebelly (1#, 127 pts)
. . 1 Firebelly, 127 pts (Blessing of the Volcano God; Fire Breath; General; Ogre Charge; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Flaming Attacks; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Potion of Speed

Ironguts (5#, 250 pts)
. . 5 Ironguts, 250 pts (Always Strikes Last; Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Causes Fear; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Standard of Discipline

Ogres (6#, 216 pts)
. . 5 Ogres, 216 pts (Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Light Armour; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Crusher (Ogre Charge; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Light Armour; Extra Attack; Stomp)

Maneaters (3#, 203 pts)
. . 2 Maneaters, 203 pts (Motley Crew; Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon x2; Heavy Armour; - Choose Two -; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Been There, Done That (Scouts; Stubborn)
. . . . 1 Maneater Captain (Ogre Charge; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Heavy Armour; Extra Attack; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Gleaming Pennant

I figured at 800pts 3 scouting ogres will scare anyone.. especially as I know there's a couple of gunlines present in the campaign.

what do you all think?

Cheers!

Your first list looks like the better one to me.  More bodies on the field is the way to go until the points go up a lot.  Stick ith the level 2 as well.
x105 - keeping pace with my wins!

Ogre achievements: 65/101 latest: maneater (play in 5 different venues)

Latest Fantasy Result: ogre kingdoms vs. high elves - 1500 points - win!

8th edition: 105/25/12
New ogres: 36/6/5

I was born and bred in a briar patch!
Right they changed the way the campaign works!

It's 800pts, and you get a 1000pts to use across all the games, so say 8 games as the campaign lasts a month.

So I was thinking:

800 Pts - Ogre Kingdoms Roster

Firebelly (1#, 157 pts)
. . 1 Firebelly, 157 pts (Blessing of the Volcano God; Fire Breath; General; Ogre Charge; Level 2 Upgrade; Hand Weapon; Extra Hand Weapon; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Flaming Attacks; Stomp)

Ironguts (5#, 250 pts)
. . 5 Ironguts, 250 pts (Always Strikes Last; Ogre Charge; Bellower Mus; Standard Bearer Std; Great Weapon; Heavy Armour; Causes Fear; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Standard of Discipline

Maneaters (4#, 264 pts)
. . 4 Maneaters, 264 pts (Motley Crew; Ogre Charge; Hand Weapon; Heavy Armour; Brace of Ogre Pistols x4; - Choose Two -; Causes Fear; Extra Attack; Stomp)
. . . . 1 Been There, Done That (Poisoned Attacks; Scouts)

Leadbelchers (3#, 129 pts)
. . 3 Leadbelchers, 129 pts (Ogre Charge; Hand Weapon; Leadbelcher Gun; Light Armour; Causes Fear; Stomp)

I'd been playing around with Mournfang, a unit of three with HA and IF's. But they just turned into a turn one cannon ball target. There's a few shooty lists in the campaign and they've got hurt in the test games so far...
The Maneaters are untested but I like the idea of 4 brick hard ogres starting 12" away with pistols and poison.

And haven't decided on the additional pts yet, they're outside of the % allowance, so might go for some mournfang in that when I need them :)
