Gnoblar Mass Army

original thread ↗

I quite enjoy playing with Ogres since the new book came out, but strangely enough what caught my heart the most were the Gnoblar in the book.

I have a special place in my heart for weak, cheap troops and I have become rather fascinated with starting a Gnoblar heavy force, with units of at least 60 in number and no less then 300 Gnoblar in the force. However, I also like running forces that still have a competitive edge to them, so I do want to run tthhem for both my own amusement and seeing my opponents cower in fear from my carpet of Gnoblars.

So what I am looking for is some builds, magic, shooting, monsters or otherwise to aid the Gnoblar in the field to keep the army somewhat viable. :>D
Gutmagic works wonders helping out Gnoblar masses.... area of effect to buff the lot of them (stubborn gnoblars?  regenerating gnoblars?  hurray!).  Beast magic has some fun with gnoblars to (Curse of A. and trappers).

Slower moving gnoblars means more shooting time: support with leadbelchers and warmachines.

Good flank-charge support for when the gobbos are providing static CR and gumming up the works... kitties in slightly larger than average sizes, mournfangs, stonehorns...

Greseaus is absolute garbage, but if there is any use for him at all it is leading a gnoblar horde (slow like him, +1 CR helps when you already have reasonable static CR going).
In competative games, huge units (60+) of gnoblars could be used to hold the center while putting all your main units on one flank in a weighted flank. Mournfang, Stonehorn and ironguts with swiftness banner would be ideal to compliment the holding unit.

Other than that, gnoblars usually give up to much combat resolution to do any close combat at all. But if you want to make it work, I am sure there will be a way. Gnoblars are not much worse than skaven slaves...
