Small Game List

original thread ↗

Okay, so my local GW is pretty small, and most games we play are 1200pts a side. So here's my current list:

Lords

Tyrant with Fencer’s Blades, Glittering Scales, and Rock Eye. Cost: 275pts
My General, he'll essentially be unkillable against almost anything at this point level. He'll go solo unless the enemy has warmachines, in which case he'll join the Ironguts.

Heroes

Butcher with Sceptre of Stability, Extra Level, Lore of the Great Maw and Dragonbane Gem. Cost:155pts
I need some magic defence, and this guy can buff, use the Sceptre of Stability just in case and also take on any poisoned or flaming units that cut through Trollguts. Unless I need him solo, he'll probably join the bulls.

Core

6 Ogres with Ironfists, Champion and Bellower. Cost: 212pts
A reasonably strong combat unit. Not really much else to say. They don't have a Standard bearer because I currently don't have a model to represent one.

8 Ironguts with Full Command and Dragonhide Banner. Cost: 424pts
A deathstar-ish unit to take on anything the enemy can throw at me.They'll deploy 3x3 with the Tyrant, otherwise 4x2.

Special

3 Leadbelchers. Cost: 129pts
These guts will take a flank and blast elite units like Swordmasters (which I'll probably see a few of).

I'm not using a BSB simply because I don't have one. Any input would be welcomed. Thanks!

Xaber
If it looks like food an' it smells like food an' it sounds like food an' it feels like... oh what the hell, I'll just eat it an' be done with it.

My armies are Tyranids and Ogres. Yes, I was slightly hungry when I discovered the hobby.

Squeaky, my first pet Gnoblar!
Stronky, Squeaky's brother, is here to help any romantically challenged gnoblars... for a very shiny thing of course.
At 1200 points there is really no question that firebelchers are by far the most powerful caster choice. Fireball is an incredibly flexible and powerful spell, and it will be absolutely great to have if you are facing high elves.

In addition, the breath weapon attack is also really helpful and it can kill a slew of elves.

I would recommend a level 1 firebelcher with ahw and dispel scroll instead of your butcher. It also gives you some flaming attacks - just in case the odd war hydra shows up.

A unit I also really fancy in low point games is mournfang cavalry. Instead of your ogres and leadbelchers, I would go with 4 mournfang with the dragonhide banner. Its a near impossible unit to stop at this point level. For its points, its just a steal!

Instead I would give the ironguts banner of discipline, banner of swiftness or banner of eternal flame. Whatever you need the most. I kinda fancy banner of swiftness if you are taking the mournfang riders, so you can keep up with them.

On a final note, you should try to include a sabretusk or two if you can find some points. Its probably worth an irongut.
