I'd say so, though you're relying on your 4 MFC to be a block here as well as the IGs, which they're less suited for - I suspect you'd be aiming to use the 2 smaller MF units as support chargers for both blocks?

If you have all four characters in your IG unit (is this the plan?) then your opponent might just ignore all the MFs, ofc, and go for this block (if you're lucky - if you're not, they'll try to lead it around while they try to deal with the cavalry I suspect).

Personally, I might drop one of the Firebellies for an Ironblaster, I think, but then I usually run with only 1xlvl4 and 1xlvl2 casters.
Bulls have grey skin. 'Nuff said.
I think there's some good advice there :). I have a 2500 point battle coming up that will allow me a little more flexibility too.

How about:

Slaughtermaster
- lvl4, fencer's blades, glittering scales, dispel scroll, rock eye

Firebelly
- lvl2, ahw, hellheart

Bruiser bsb
- ha, lookout gnoblar, sword of striking, enchanted shield, talisman of endurance

12 ironguts
- full command, standard of discipline

2x10 gnoblar trappers

3x3 mournfang cavalry
- bellowers, heavy armour, ironfists

3x1 sabretusks

2 ironblasters

Yes, all character sit in the irongut unit and radiate ld9.  Sabretusks and trappers are the chaff deployments, the mournfang cavalry are the setups for the irongut unit.  With these 3 units and the sabretusks having M8 swiftstride, I'm betting that little will be able to block up or redirect the irongut unit.  The ironblasters can keep anything nasty honest, and support the IG block with countercharges when I turn the cats loose on the enemy army.

All kitty cav units are disposable.  At 220 points each they represent a lot of bang for the buck.

Yeah, I think that's better, hard though it is to give up the DHB . . .

The Ironblasters will give many opponents another priority too, which is no bad thing; and help avoid having to go after big monsters with your MFs.
Bulls have grey skin. 'Nuff said.
With just the one big block of ogres I hate not seeing a Crown of Command in there.  I know your SM can get the spell, but my opponents around here will dispel it knowing that one failed roll and half your army dies (as lords and heroes are in the unit).  I've always been a fan of the BSB in the second rank so giving him a GW and minimal armor has always worked for me so he can have the CoC.

I've been running a smaller IG block with characters and the crown in it, and in 11 games I've never needed to take a break test with them, so the stubborn has never come into play.  I'm getting pretty sure that such a block of ogres isn't going to be losing combat very often, no matter what it faces.

I like the second list better, 2 IB's give it some versitility.

Making the Mournfang disposable is encouraged, though at 220 points I don't know how disposable they are.
I dislike running multiple Mournfang personally, their large footprint, what they can reliably take in combat, low amount of wounds for the unit and LD7 all make them quite a specialised hammer unit for the OK, so I prefer just the one hard hitting DH banner unit after mutiple test games with more than one unit.

It looks like a fun list to use though and would look great on the tabletop  :D

What are you up against monday?

Skink poison certainly shouldn't be a problem to them, skink/Krox will be though, plus without the DH Saurus might be with a multitude of attacks.

Be aware before game that you might have a discussion of what comprises of a mixed unit for stomping purposes.
I was called over for a rules query where he was adamant that 2 mounted Saurus Scar Vets in a unit of infantry made the unit mixed and therefore unstompable      ;)

Paul tried it once too.  And someone tried it at the Swiss cheese event I went too.  Skrox themselves are unique, as are skaven rat packs with packmasters.  Characters don't make a unit unique though.  Still I just want to push all the cats across the table for a change and see what they can do.  Would love to ironblaster the scar vets though if he gives me a chance.

I thought it was an absurd claim that I'd never heard of before!

The unit type is clearly infantry that has been joined by characters, like you say, skink-krox have been FAQ'd to be a 'mixed unit', not infantry, Warbeasts or Swarms.

A charmed shield is a usual choice for Scar Vets which will mess up a shot  :(
You should have the rock-eye!  :P  ;)

EDIT: Now I check your list properly, I see you have!

I used the rock eye at that event last weekend, it's actually really good :)

I know, I haven't played a game without it, it gives you an edge actually knowing where things are instead of guessing is awesome.

The interesting thing I found out about the Rock Eye is that it doesn't work on Daemons, as they don't have Magic Items. But yes, I consider it essential in a Closed List environment. Means you don't waste dice on trollguts if the Flaming Banner is about!
