LARP!

original thread ↗

So I just got back from a weekend long LARP event. It was my first LARP and I had such a great time! It was non-stop action. I really didn't know what to expect, but it far surpassed anything I could have dreamed up.

If any of you have been thinking of giving it a try, GO FOR IT! It was more fun than a barrel of gnoblars! :D
I always fancied having a go especially after seeing rolemodels is there much cost to it and is there any near manchester

Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man and gave Jesus his favorite gift, a beard. The other wise men were so hacked off, they got Chuck Norris removed from the bible. Mysteriously, they all later died of Roundhouse kick related injuries.
I googled LARP groups near Manchester and found a bunch. As for cost, it all depends on where you go. I was with the Traverse City, Michigan Alliance group. My first event was free other than my costumes and weaponry. As far as that goes it really depends on what you want to spend. Costumes and weapons can be made pretty cheap (I made 5 weapons for under 10$ U.S.). I really didn't know what to expect, but was EXTREMELY happy with the experience! I ended up traveling about 200 miles to play but it was definitely worth it. I'm looking into starting a chapter in my area so I can play in two games a month.
Sadly, there are no LARP groups where I live, just historical re-enactments and mid-evil clubs. I have seen some pretty cool stuff, like people who make their own chainmail and armour, even one guy who makes swords!

There used to be a LARP group in my area years ago, but they disappeared after one of them "got too into it" and assaulted a Mounty (Canadian police for rural areas).

That's very unfortunate. Totally worth traveling for. Like I said, I traveled nearly 200 miles to play and can't wait for the next event.
Haha, 200 miles isn't even the next closest city for me. I know there is Larping in a few cities across my count, but they are all in other provinces, like a 22 hour drive to the closest one.

Yeah, parts of Canada are like that. I have a 2000 mile commute to work, so I tend to forget some people aren't much for traveling. :D
