The Desert Eaters (might be renamed)

original thread ↗

Ok, Time to start my Gnoblog.  I haven't worked on the fluff too much, but it's based around a tribe of Ogres of "above average" intelligence (probably on par with a highschool grad lol).  They decide to set up a Kingdom in the mountains between Lustria and the Nehekharan desert as it provides a lot of challenges and some unique food and treasure.  Not sure what I want the end goal to be (go back richer than Greasus/challenge for overtyrant, maybe just a tribe who want to take down and eat the toughest monsters they can).  My Tyrants most crowning achievement was (fluff, haven't done it in game) single-handedly taking down a Necrosphinx and eating it.

Anyways.  To get started, here are some pics of my current BSB and Tyrant.  I think the BSB will eventually become my Bull's Standard Bearer and I'll probably replace the Tyrant with a better head and som bigger legs when I get better at Green Stuff and painting, but for now, this is what I got:

So I spent today working on my Tyrant some more and making him even more idiotic looking lol.  I really need to get better at Green Stuff.  I'm thinking of trying more yellow in the mix because the mix I'm using now is a bit stiff.  I'm hoping I can make it look better by addig layers later on and that painting will help a bit.

Next time I think I'll do more from scratch because chopping bits of arm and foot off make it look a little wierd.  Maybe the finished product will come together.

Tomorrow I'm off to buy tools, which will hopefully make the process easier!

So the next part of my project is to try and smooth over the layer I already have by adding some details and using actual tools to try and blend the three layers of Green Stuff together.

Lessons Learned so far:
1.  Have a complete plan before you start
2.  Do more research than "How to use Green Stuff" on google and stopping after you find out to mix blue     and yellow.
3.  Patience is key...both in sculpting and not giving up because you suck lol.
4.  Have the right tools for the job.

The pics I attached are the front view of my BSB, a size comparison (still have to add feet) and a close up of my terrible GS job so proper advice may be given.
Any tips are welcomed!  (I already found the halfing cookbook  :>P)

You GS sculpting is in need of improvement but as you say practice makes perfect.

You have used far too much Greenstuff. Less is more as you can allways add to it later. Do you have a understructure to the model or was it all greenstuff?

It might be easier to try smaller projects before taking on a full sculpt.
22/101 Ogre Achievements... Gotta try harder.

Pet Gnoblars:
Its a bull with GS around it.
