Hello fellow Slaughtermasters and Tyrants!
I decided since our army book just received a nice overhaul and shiny new models, I should jump back into Fantasy gut first! I had an OK army way back in '05 but haven't played a game of Fantasy since the last edition was released (que the 300 Night Gobbos in a box from my failed Night Goblin army screaming).
So long story made short, I took out some of the old models (Slave Giant, Gorger, Ninja Manhunter, Hunter and some "Bulls") and purchased a new rulebook, the OK army book, the Battallion box set and a Finecast Butcher.
First a word on the Finecast Buthcer. I have to say I was 50/50 on this Finecast. My major problem with it was all the deformities on this expensive single model I purchased. The head that I had decided to use (mind you chosen before I even purchased it) had some casting issues on his upper lip/nose. After some cutting and sanding I managed to save his face but it was still annoying to have to stop production to fix something I shouldn't have to. Plus there were more gaps then I would have liked.
The good side of it for me is how easy it is to convert, that and how light weight it is. Pulling the hammer off the extra arm and attaching it to his clenched fist was a breeze.
So besides the minor Finecast issue, assembly went smoothly and here is the army as it stands.
I added some older Ogres to bulk up the Ogre unit with Ironfists. I figured they would be a good tar pit what with the parry save and all. I also decided after assembling the units that I had a spare Ogre and needed to construct a BSB.
Here he is so far...
Still have to attach the large "ram" skull to the Butcher to mark him as my Slaughermaster...
Started working on converting the Hunter to carry a great weapon, again taking advantage of Finecast durability. Don't know if I'll use him but I have always loved the model.
The Gorger who was at one time converted to be the lead Strigoi Vampire Lord in my Ghoul army.
The good old Slave Giant I built the day the plastic Giant kit was released. Still never painted him.
Complete with attached Gnoblar. The poor boy was knocked out and chained to the Giant after he lost a game of "name that smell".
And there you have it. All assembled but still requiring some putty work. Should have a test Ogre painted this weekend and will post him up.
