So, how 'bout it? Think they'd be over powered? It would certainly make them more of a "no brainer" unit, and maybe that's not a good thing. What kind of points increase do you think you'd need to account for the skirmishing ability?

i prefer LB the way they are but if they were going to change anything make it so they dont have to roll to hit. thats all that needs doing to them really. there pretty good as they are but i cant see making them skirmish be much good when people only run them in groups of 2 or 3.

I don't see them as scouts.. how are you supose to hide them ? Imagine the racket of noise they would do in the woods with cannons ?
Who will be the next Khan in the Ogre Kingdoms?

Are there any skirmishers in the game that use 40mm bases? I don't believe so. For one thing, fellows on the big bases can never have the 360 degree LOS that skirmishers get. Even our characters!
I don't think this would jive very well with the rules.

Yes, the 90-degree arc of sight for single Ogres sucks. That's why I'm gonna start playing Lizardmen too - all those skinks, muahahahaha.

Why make them skirmishers? Then they won't be able to negate ranks anymore. No way.
personally, I think leadbelchers would benefit if their cannons counted as great weapons as opposed to ogre clubs. hell, even without that mention, they would still come with an ogre club, so it is kind of pointless.
that, and I think that all ogre units and models should count as if they had a musician; does it make sense to pay for someone so they can shout?

If I were to suggest a change for the Leadbelchers, I'd say give the Thunderfist a higher Ballistic skill instead of an extra melee attack. It seems as though the champion of a cannon-bearing unit should be the best cannonneer (is that a word?) of the bunch, not better in HTH combat.

Although, I suspect Ogre societal placement depends not on one's aptitude, but the ability of one to assert one's aptitude. Ie: the Thunderfist is the Thunderfist because he'll bash anyone who says otherwise (bash 'em good...).
