Hi lads! I am compiling a list of how the Hellheart has performed in battle. Something to compare the hype to our perception of the item. The preferred format for easy comparison is:
1. Enemy army and Battle Points Size 2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? Please put in here if the carrier died/fled before being able to use it or if you were playing a zero caster opponent. 3. How many wizards and how were they affected? Could be zero plus 4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion?
To get the ball rolling 1. WoC, 2200 2. 14 inches, rolled 25inches 3. 1, wounded the caster, lost 3 power dice 4. No, did allow me a turn with no dangerous spells cast at me
1. VC, 2200 2. 10inches, rolled 25 inches 3. 2, both rolled a 5,6. wounded both and killed 5 ghouls, 6 skellies, he lost 6 power dice 4. maybe, it did prevent his grave guard from being healed that turn. which meant that when i charged next turn, there were less bodies there. put more pressure on him.
cheers

1: Tomb Kings, 3000 points 2: 10-15" 3: 2, all of them were effected.
4:both rolled a 7, which resulted in me having 8 dispell dice and him having 1 Power Dice after rolling the D6s. No magic that phase
Didn't win me the game, but it did make the good position I was in an excellent one.
Current win streak: 10

1. Tomb Kings 2000 points 2. used it on turn three got 20" 3.2 wizards. The level 2 lost all his wizard levels and then the level three got one of the effects that was a template which killed the first wizard wounded the level three and killed a few skeletons. I think he lost some power dice too but don't remember how many. 4. No I was steamrolling him anyway however that magic phase was completely shut down.
1. Brets 2500 2.used it turn 4 I think, rolled a 1 so 5" 3. 0 wizards in range 4. obviously didn't help but I likely would have lost either way.
Genestealer26 Sep 2011
Have had it in three games so far. Used twice, in back to back games with different Brettonian players.
Game 1 Brettonians - 2000 points wizards were 11-15" away rolled a 2 nothing happened
Game 2 Brettonians - 2000 points wizards were 7-15" away rolled a 1 nothing happened
Game 3 Ogre Kingdoms - 2000 points Game went my way from the start and I never needed to use it.

1. Woodelves 3000 pts 2. Used in turn three, rolled 24" Three wizards in range, 2 miscast taking one wound each, the third have cast Throne of Vines and at the time I thought it best to allow his ward to work. 3. HH helped my win but did not win the game for me.
1. Skaven, 4000 pts. 2. Turn 4, needed 20 inches, rolled 5 3. Zero wizards in range. 4. We did not get to finish the game but t was close at the end of turn 4 when we had o quit.

1: Orcs and Goblins 2500 2: Turn 3, both orc shamans were within 15 inches, rolled 20 inches 3: 1 cascaded down a hole, the other rolled a 7. 4: No, killing the lore master goblin general on a big spider turn one with an ironblaster did.

1. Orcs & Goblins, 3500 pts
2. Three wizards, two of which were level fours were all within 29", 23", and 9" respectively. I rolled a five and got two of them. Both rolled dimensional cascade but did not get sucked in. Only killed about 15 orcs total.
3. I used it to shut down an eleven dice magic phase so I think it did contribute to my victory.
Toad_Raider26 Sep 2011
1. 1500 Points Orcs and Goblins (seems to be a few of them around!) 2. Used the Hellheart in my turn three. Got the one Level 4 Shaman. He was within ten inches, and I rolled a four. 3. Result on the table was an eleven, dropped the Shaman from level 4 to level 1. 4. I still lost the game. Got rolled by a Horde of Savage Orcs.
Exams are finished, and I am back in business baby!
Check it out, pet Gnoblar! I dub thee Scumbo.

Miscasting and making a roll on the miscast table are 2 clearly different situations. In the case of the Hellheart, your not Miscasting, your just rolling on the miscast table. Effectively, you could refer to it as "the hellheart misfortune table".
IMO, items/ abilities that prevent miscasting have no effect on hellheart, such as throne of vines. However, i do beleive infernal puppet can be used to modiy the result, as it affects the roll on the table, not the actual miscast.
I'd discuss this with your high elf player, because i think your getting the short end of the stick on this one

This is more appropriate for the Tales of Conquest board, so I've moved and set as a Sticky.
I think it will be interesting to have this resource, something to tell us if the item is very overpowered or just whine material for people. Also be nice to point anyone moaners to the thread if it pans out to be not as OMG!!!111!!! as people think.

1. Wood elves, 2500 2. Turn 4, rolled 15" 3. clipped just one caster of 3, dimensional cascade did a wound to the wizard and killed a few dryads, wizard did not go down a hole. 4. No, just pyrotechnics, didn't change the game much.
1. Vampire counts, 3000 points 2. Turn 3, rolled 20" 3. Got one caster (not the general), did S6 hits to all wizards on his side, wounding 2 of them. 4. Helped a bit, meant his general popped a wound sooner in a big combat in turn 5, but not ame winning as he would have gone anyway.
1. Orcs and goblins, 2000 points 2. Didn't use it as he kept his caster back on his board edge all game 3. N/a 4. Meant I didn't have to worry about his magic as he was staying out of trouble, but was winning comfortably anyway.
1. Warriors of chaos, 2500 points 2. Turn 4, rolled 15" 3. Missed his Mage as I needed to roll a 4 to get him 4. Obviously not as it's effect was wasted.

2000pts vs. Tomb Kings:
Turn 2, about 10 inches away from closest caster. Rolled a 1, did nothing. Still won the game.
3000 pts Chaos Warriors/Ogres vs. Tomb Kings/Empire
Turn 3, 2 inches away from Heirophant, about 15 inches from next closes caster. Rolled a 1. Dimensional Cascade on Heirophant (he died). Game ended early, was about even when it was called.
4000 pts ogres vs. Brettonians
Rolled a 5 and Hit something like 3 casters, in B2B w/his special character sorceress chick (I'm new to the game). I think a couple of 7s were rolled and 9 on miscast. A couple of wounds resulted, lost power dice. We were routed.

1. Warriors of chaos, 2400 points 2. Turn 2, rolled a 30" range 3. Got both of his level 2 mages, one detonated killing a handful of marauders and taking a wound. The other, a tz wizard lost both his spells, becoming level 0 4. The loss of gateway and pandamonium took the pressure off me and allowed me to control the magic phase for the game. This did help me win it, although the game could have gone either way in combats on 3 occasions.

1. Orcs and Goblins 2. Popped it turn 2, had to try as he got 12 power dice that turn. Rolled 5". 3. ZERO 4. It didn't do much, except that as we play with ETC style restrictions I couldn't have a dispel scroll AND hellheart so affected that a bit.
1. Lizardmen 2. Popped it turn 3, he had moved his slann as far away as he could from hellheart, had to roll 3+, I rolled a 2. 3. ZERO 4. Didn't do anything except deprive me of my dispel scroll.
I think the item is a bit overrated as the enemy can move his mages away from it but I think it's also kinda like the siren song, it's not meant to be used early in the game.

1. Enemy army and Battle Points Size: Skaven 1250 points 2. I waited till turn 4, and I got 10 inches. 3. How many wizards and how were they affected?: 1, Ikit Claw lost 2 of his magic levels. 4. It didn't win me the game, but I wasn't taking warp lightning every turn! (At least not from the spell. Stupid Storm Daemon)
EDIT: Played another game. Results below: 1. Lizardmen 2000 points 2. Turn 3, and I got 15 inches. 3. 1, and the Slaan Mage Priest leveled his own unit of 15 temple guard (He did not wound himself) 4. It probably won me the game, as the slaan went on to fail a casting roll, thus casting no spells in that phase, and got charged by mournfang cavalry in my turn. And that unit was the bedrock of his line, the rest being Saurus cavalry and a unit of skinks.

2000 pts vs tomb kings last night:
Finally rolled higher than 1 (got a 5) and got his heirophant, and level 2 wizard. Heirophant had a power drain and lost 3 levels (and spells). Level 2 wizard blew up. Then on my turn, I greedy fisted his 2 spells.

Rolled a 5 in CC and got 2 heralds and his horrors. 1 herald and one horror blew up in my face, killing a couple of ogres. The other herald was not in CC and blew up too.
I still lost, although it was mainly due to me being dumb & inexperienced - I have now learned the valuable lesson of "do not issue a challenge to a unit that has a changeling in it."

I've used it the last six games I have played with the army, all with my mostly refined 2500 list, where its being delivered by one of my Firebellies who sits in the second rank of a 3x3 Iron Gut unit.
1. Empire, double Steam Tank w Greatswords and Knightstar 2. Wizard I wanted to hit was 12" away. I rolled a 5 and hit two wizards. 3. Both wizards fried some of their pals and lost dice. 4. It contributed to me sticking around longer since he lost three two combat rounds of Lore of Light buffs on his greatswords, letting the maneater unit get the job done. Ironblasters did more by crippling the steam tanks and sniping his war machines.
1. Dark Elves, typical double hydra cauldron witch shadow shennanigans, backed by crossbowmen. 2. Wizard I wanted to affect was within 14" trying to Mind Razor some witches. I rolled a 4. 3. Wizard deleveled and forgot everything but steed of shadows. 4. Definately helped. Witches ate me alive as was, and having magic superiority (and autowounding maneaters from Flaming Sword) turned the tide.
1. Chaos Dwarves (Rav hordes) with two wizards some black orcs and a metric s***ton of war machines. 2. Wizard's unit charged into combat, support wizard was 9" away. Rolled a 2 and got both. 3. Main wizard deleveled. Both wizards took a wound and lost some dice. 4. Not really. The Ironblasters taking down most of the artilery won me the game and his wizard would have been deleveled by the greedyfist tyrant who countercharged in anyhow.
1. Chaos Warriors w Chosenstar of Tzeench 2. Wizard was on a disk and the closest he got was 19" on turn four, so I gambled and rolled the 5 to get him. 3. He forgot all of his spells except the one that makes a free exaulted guy. 4. Not really, as I struggled against this army even without his magic. I lost because I could not chew through 3+ ward saves.
1. Lizardmen Life Slaan with Engine and mini Stegadon Stampede. 2. Slaan was in close to heal up Stegadons and buff key units and the Engine was in combat. I popped it turn two and hit both easily. 3. Slaan went nuclear and killed all but three temple guard. Skink deleveled and lost the only spell he had. Tyrant charged solo into the Temple Guard unit and rolled three impact hits, whiping the rest out prior to combat (S7 ftw!) and deleveling the Slaan with the Greedyfist. Engine was shut down and the Skink was a non factor for the rest of the game until his ride got butchered. 4. Absolutely. It ended his magic phase on a key turn and put me into position to have my Tyrant greedyfist him out of the game. Stegs die fast to Iron Guts when they are not getting healed constantly.
1. Daemons w the typical flamers, bloodletter horde, horror bunker, and plaguebearer block with the Icon of Dispair. 2. Fat man was 17" away, horrors and Tz Herald were 9" away. Popped it on turn two and rolled 3. 3. Tz Herald lost some dice and 3 horrors poofed. 4. It had little impact on the game, as his army was not magic dependant and I gunned down the fatman in my turn two shooting phase, anyhow (yay Ironblasters). Traded Maneaters for Bloodletters in the center and my Ironguts mopped up everything else, with the Ironblasters taking the Flamers out of the picture.
My personal analysis: It won me the game against the Lizardmen army, but he was dumb and put himself in that position. In every other game the Ironblasters and/or Maneaters had significantly more impact. The chaos guy had the best plan to avoid it hurting him and he made it a non factor, even without the puppet in his army. A smart DE player should never be affected by this item, as they can Steed of Shadows or Smoke and Mirrors after its use is decided to get into range with their bigger spells.

1. Beastmen, 2500 2. Was gonna let it loose on turn 2 after moving the SM in range, but SM died to miscast 3. 0 4. I think this had a decent effect on the game, I was relying on it to shut the magic phase down to an extent, being in a 2+ roll range of 2 wizards and 3+ for all 3.

1) Lizardmen, 2000
2) Turn 3, 25"
3) 2 out of 3 wizards hit. Missed the 3rd one by 2". One rolled a 7 on the miscast so only effect was opponent loosing 5 power dice. The other a 6 with eventually gave him 1 wound and ate up the rest of his power dice. Neither of the 3 casters were ever attached to a unit (else the 6 roll would have been more spectacular).
4) I don't think it won or lost me the game. It is in my view a premature Dispel with benefits for its point value. If you are taking 2+ Butcher/SMs then I think it's worth including. You just have to point that B/SM toward the closest grouping of his casters or the most valuable if he has 2+ and get decently close. Don't premeasure between the two or else, just as in poker, you've given your plot away and your opponent knows what's coming.

Two more to report: 1) Empire, 2500 2) Turn two, needed to roll a two to get his big wizard, rolled a 5 but still missed his L2. 3) Wizard went nuclear and got sucked into the warp, taking over a dozen of his pals with him. 4) He had so much shooting that it is hard to say, but being able to dominate the game with two firebellies didn't hurt.
1) Ogres, 2500 (he had one too) 2) We both popped them on turn two in range of a single wizard. 3) He forgot Toothcracker and I took a wound on each firebelly. 4) None whatsoever, though the game of footsie we were playing to avoid being the first one zappped was hilarious.

1. Skaven 2400
2. Turn three, rolled a 2 and hit Grey Seer and Warlock Engineer
3. Warlock became a level 0 from a level 1 so lost warp-lightning. Seer lost D6 dice and made all wizards take a S6 hit.
4. Plaguepriest lost a wound so easier to kill him in close combat. Reduced his dice from 9 to 5 so did a little there as well but no major impact. He probably rolled the best results he could have, nearly.

2. It was turn 3
3. 2 wizards, Slann and a Skink priest. Slann rolled a 7 and killed 6 Temple Guard, lost 6 power dice. Skink Priest rolled a 12 and ceased to be a wizard.
4. It didn't win me the game persay, but it did shut down an 11 dice magic phase. The Ironic thing is that the Slann later got an IF on Shield of Thorns, failed the Throne of Vines save, rolled Dimensional Cascade, and was sucked into oblivion.

Game 1 1. 2500, Vs vampires
2. turn 3, rolled a 5 when i was next to the vampire ghoul horde with 2 vamps for support.
3. Got both vamps in the unit, and theGeneral who was further away for the Crown to work. 2 small blast templates on the Ghouls, cut them down to half, and the lord lost 2 levels. Also shut down his magic phase and stopped him buffing the Ghouls i had overran into with my Mournfangs.
4. Yes. Knocking out the magic phase alone helped to fininsh him off, and I am glad i waited unit I was very close before using it.

2. Turn 3
3. rolled a 1. No one near enough.
4. I dont think it would have affected the game. He only had on mage, and she stayed back most of the time. Turn 2 was when she was closest, at 18" away, but his army did not need her buffs to win.

1) Daemons, typical Khorne horde backed by some Tzeench Heralds setup. 2) Popped it on turn four with both his Tz Heralds within 15" and rolled the 3 I needed. 3) Two wizards and some Horrors affected. One Herald (life one) went nuclear and killed a couple Horrors, the other (shadow) ceased to be a wizard. Some Horrors poofed. 4) Tipped things in my favor on the key turn, as I had my maneaters in a mutual grindout with a Bloodletter deathstar, with flaming sword up, and he could not debuff me. Lack of shadow for the remainder of the game prevented him from getting back into it with a lucky pit of shades.

Two games against my rat bastard buddy: 1) Rats, 2500 with dual WLC, Abomb, Wheel, Bell, Furnace, and some slave blocks 2) Popped it on turn three when both of his wizards were within 11" of it or less. 3) Hit both. Seer put a wound on himself and the Plague guy. Plague guy on cauldron did the fry every dude in base contact thing, killing a bucket of rats. 4) It helped, but it was not crucial.
1) Rats, same list, but I pulled out my friendly goof off list with SM general, Cat Cav, and Stonehorn 2) Popped it on turn four with just the plague priest in range. 3) Plague priest fried a bunch of pals in base again. 4) It helped me stay in a losing game, but the impact was fairly minor as magic was not a large factor in this game. It did make him keep his wizards apart, however. Ended up getting my p00p pushed in anyhow.

1) Vamps, 2x Ghoulstar, GG Deathstar, Skeleton Character bunker, lots of characters. 2) Popped it on top of two, when he was set to dance his entire army in, with all four enemy casters within 15" 3) Hit all four guys, mostly just fried lots of rank and file dudes and ended his magic phase. 4) I am not sure if he would have done enough to plow past the Maneaters and avoid the counter flank I set up, but the other Irongut block deffinately got saved from getting plowed by a Ghoulstar because of it. It was decisive in the decisive turn, so I would say that it probably won me the game, but infantry VC are already at a huge disadvantage against Ogres, so not entirely sure. First game in a while where the Ironblasters did less than the hellheart.

WoC, 2000pts
2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? Please put in here if the carrier died/fled before being able to use it or if you were playing a zero caster opponent.
Got it off in turn 2, rolled a 6 when I needed a 3
3. How many wizards and how were they affected? Could be zero plus
Got the only wizard in the enemy force, rolled 'Detonation', killing 2 Marauders and deducting a single die from the power pool.
4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion?
It had no impact on the game whatsoever. More decisive were the miscasts caused by the Hellcannon, which killed my Slaughtermaster general and took away the single wizard level from my Firebelly.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

4. YES! My slaughtermaster charged the crossbow unit and killed the last wound on the wizard. Rod of Power GONE!

1. vs High Elf, 2500 pts. 2. 3rd turn, forgot it on turn 2... 3. 2, only 1 affected. But he rolled the S6 on each mage, which killed his dragonmage 4. Definately helped save myself from a dweller below. Was a 12 PD vs 5 DD phase...
1. vs Wood elf, 2500 pts. 2. 2nd turn. 3. 1, one was affected. Rolled the S6 on each mage, taking a wound off his only mage... 4. I'd say yes, since the following turn, he casted flesh to stone on a unit of treekin, and i nearly lost the game because of that... So if he had it a turn early, this could have been a problem.

1. Beastmen, 2500 points 2. Turn 3, had specifically marched a firebelly out of his unit to get in range despite making him vulnerable to charges. Rolled a 4 which worked because he had just charged into the flank of one of my units with his Mage bunker near his herdstone. 3. All 3 mages affected. Lvl 2 beasts who was already wounded died, deleted 6 dice from the pool. Lvl 2 death Mage took a wound, killed 3 bestigors and deleted 5 dice from the pool. His lvl 4 warded all wounds, killed 2 bestigors.
4. Turned an important 12 dice magic phase into nothing. This prevented him Buffing or debuffing in the bestigors vs. ironguts fight when he had charged my flank. Combat was a draw. I turned to face and ripped the unit apart, sealing the game despite what was left on the table.

Forgot about this. From last weekend
1. Empire 2000 points 2. 3rd turn, only 1 wizard in range (opponent wisely spread 2 wizards out) 3. No wounds caused in Wizard (ward save), 3 halberdiers killed, 2 power dice lost 4. Stopped opponent from getting perhaps 1 spell off, not game changing.

1) Bretts 2500 2) Popped it on turn two, after he charged both lances into my battle line with the girls in the second ranks. 3) Rolled a 2, but still got them both. Both girls fried about 6 knights a piece from their lances and he lost all of his dice. 4) He scooped after that. Hellheart will destroy Bretts if they do not play around it.
1) Empire and Ogres 4k Team Game 2) Popped it on turn two with the enemy 14" away and rolled the one. 3) No effect. His hellheart also fizzled. 4) None.

1) WoC 2500 2) Used in turn 3 against his lone Lvl 4 of Tzeentch General. 3) Needed a 2+ and got him. He lost two wizard levels and lost his entire magic phase. 4) Not really, I had already trashed the rest of his army. That said, It may have saved one of my units of an Infernal Gateway cast irresistibly. Same impact on the game as my Dispell Scroll used in turn 1.

1. 2000 pts vs ogres 2. Turn 2 3. He'd marched his Firebelly out of a unit straight at me, and I only needed a 3+ to hit him. I needed a 6 to hit his SM though, and rolled a 5. 4. He had rolled a pretty big magic phase, and given the position his Firebelly was in I needed to stop this phase. It probably could have waited and got both wizards, but I was happy with when I used it. Not game changing.

1. 2500 points vs. skavens 2. Turn 2 3. My Ironguts marched as close as possible of his Bell, and he also had a lvl 1 technomage near it. So 2. Both roll magic drain and both lost 1 level. At least he did nothing for one turn. 4. It clearly made no difference, he steamrolled me anyway with his two Cannons, Catapult and 4 weapons that shot 4 turns without any missfire. But I guess it could have been helpful.
1. 2999 points vs. brets 2. Turn 3 3. My Ironguts charged his Realm Knights with his Prophetess, a Lord AND a Paladin. She rolled Magic Drain so couldn't cast that turn, lost 2 levels, Flesh to Stone and Shield of Thorns, his two most useful spells. 4. There it made a big difference. He had rolled 11 power dices and I wouldn't have been able to dispell that AND Throne of Vines AND Dwellers. He wasn't able to buff a very nasty unit that would probably have steamrolled my Guts otherwise. The rest of his army was dead on the other hand, but still.

1. 2500 Points vs Vampires 2. Turn 2 3. 4 Wizards 4. No. It did help reduce that phase. His magic was set up to basically ensure 12 dice every phase. At the end of it all he still had 7 power dice, 1 necro died, and the other three wizards had a wound each. The Ogres did win
1. Rematch! 2. Never 3. 0 4. He got his wraiths into my bull unit with the fire belly and shutdown all my fire spells so I would not be able to hurt the wraiths. He broke the unit and ran it down before the hell heart could be used.

1 dark elves 2400 points 2 turn 2, not far enough to do damage (though in the magic fase itself the caster blew up on a natural 12 - 4 - 3) 3 0 4 obviously not.
1 warriors of chaos 2400 points 2 turn 2, rolled 4. 3 affected 1 wizard, but with the puppet it's not that fun. 4 no, not at all
1 warriors of chaos 2400 again 2 turn 4 rolled 5 when I didn't need any distance for one caster. 3 affected 2 wizards. 4 not really, it helped me in the end to one combat.

1. Skaven, 2000 points. 2. Turn 3, rolled the necessary 3+ 3. Hit his Grey Seer and killed a few Clanrats, only took 1 dice away so no noticable effect 4. No, I still lost
1. High Elves, 2000 points 2. Turn 3, needed a 2+ to hit two wizards and rolled a 1 3. 0 4. No, though I fought on for a draw. Even a couple of casualties would have swung it to me though, so a little annoyed.
1. Wood Elves, 2000 points 2. Was shot before I could activate it 3. 0 4. No
1. Dwarfs, 2000 points 2. No casters 3. 0 4. No
1. Wood Elves, 2000 points 2. Turn 3, I ran my Butcher into the firing squad to get a spell off in my turn, and needed a 3+ to hit both his wizards - rolled a 5 3. The Level 1 lost levels and stopped being a wizard, the Level 4 killed a few elves around him. 4. Not really, it didn't even help me stop his spells in that phase.
1. Warriors, 2000 points 2. Turn 2, before he got the 3+ ward on his Chosen (), rolled the 3 I needed 3. Dropped his Level 4 to a Level 1 4. Not really, he could still use my spells so didn't help a huge amount. Him losing Fireball was pretty big though.

1. Skaven, 2500 2. used it turn 3 and rolled a 1. 3. 1 grey seer on the bell was hit. End result was that everyone took a str6 hit. his 2 engineers both took a wound, one was killed, and the seer on the bell failed his 4+ ward.
4. Didn't really help all that much. My Slaughter master was able to pound that grey seer off his bell a little earlier then normal because of that one wound, but it really had no effect beyond ensuring he only cast one spell that magic phase.
1. High Elves, 2500 2. never used it, 10 sword masters made a long shot charge on a unit of 12 bulls with my butcher and firebelly in the unit. Sword masters only won by a single point, I failed my Stubborn Ld9 rerollable test, and they ran the whole lot down. The survivers got unceremoniously run over by an ironblaster for their troubles. He had 2 mages for me to effect too.

1. Warriors of chaos, 2400 points 2. Turn 3. Should have gone in turn 2 really, but turn 3 was OK. Needed a 3 to hit both remaining wizards, rolled a 4 3. Level 2 on disc went down a hole, level 4 saved the wound he received. 4. Helped the gnoblars the level 2 had just charged in the flank, and if the level 4 had failed that save he'd also have died As he was on only 1 wound. As things turned out, it only made a great position slightly stronger, game was only going one way from deployment.

He rolled 6-6 on turn two. There where two wizards, one 6 inches away, the other 24" away. I was hoping for a 2+ to hit the closer and cut into those 12 dices. If I got a 5+, it would be just gravy. I ended up rolling a 12.
3. How many wizards and how were they affected? Could be zero plus
I rolled a 5 and got both wizards. Both rolled detonation. He lost 3 chaos knights and 5 chaos warriors, and was not able to cast any spells.
4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion?
This was a game where I didn't need to pick up one model off the board on my side. Many things went my way that game

1. Beastmen 2400 2. Didn't use it. I was planning on hitting it turn 3, but I needed a 4+ and he rolled low on the Winds. So I saved it and by the time I might have needed it the game was already mine. 3. No effect, he was spending too much time miscasting on his own without me helping him along! 4. No effect, though he was clustering his wizards around the Herdstone, so it might have caused havoc if I triggered it.

1. Skaven 2k 2. Used on turn three needed 3 to hit all his casters (all 4 of them!!!) and rolled a 5. 3. Removed all of his power dice and did a wound to his Gray Seer. 4. Big effect, stopping a 10 dice magic phase and the wound on the seer made all the difference later in the game.

1. Tomb Kings 2000pts 2. Turn 3, Needed a 3, got a 5, got both Hierophant and Lvl 2 Liche 3. Power drained heirophant down to lvl 1 from 3 {had been drained to 3 already by a previous MC} and Magical Feedback wounded the Heirophant but not the little liche. 4. Blunted the magic phase, only casket cast irresistably that turn, still lost, turns out sepulcral stalkers popping up behind Mournfang and getting 22 hits with their gaze thingy hurts ;o

1: O&G 2500 2: Turn 3, rolled a 5 3: all 3 wizards
4: 2 rolled detonation, 1 rolled feedback. They were all in base to base with each other and the general. General used his Charmed Shield and Opal amulet up, all his wizards were left with 1 wound each.
It didn't win the game for me persay, but it did allow me to get rid of the stubborn crown on his savage orks(Sabretusk went in and actually managed to do 2 wounds to his general who only had a 5+ armor save now so my BSB could then finish him off) This allowed my to break them before his Black Orks got to me. then my Ironblasters killed the 2 wolfriders with a banner so he would break(Blood and Glory)
1: Skaven 2500(Battleline) 2: Turn 2 rolled a 5 3: all 4 wizards. 4: both Warlock engineers were killed(2 magical feedbacks) and the Grey Seer got sucked into the warp. Plague Priest lost 2 levels.
It didn't win the game. The stubborn crown really did. Allowed me to to grind down his Stormvermin and kill the Bell. I ended up winning by 500 points(of which 200 was for his General and BSB)

Well, we avoided one nasty SoM Magic phase, but for the rest even at his maximum it really didn't do much. But yeah, Hellheart in a SoM game is a must, especially when you are playing in an alliance with a Warrior of Chaos that brough the Puppet

First 3 matches:
1. Warriors of Chaos 2500pts 2. Turn 3, Distance: 15", needed a 3 , rolled a 2.... 3. None 4. He still cc'ed at end the end of turn 3 because i blocked him so well with gnobblars that he cant do anything with his 50-GW-Khorne-Marauders. We played another 2 turns, because we hadnt enough time for a new round and i think he got a close draw out of it due to some poor dice rolls.
1. Warriors of Chaos 2,5k + Dark Elves 2,5k vs. Ogres 2,5k and O&G 2,5k (total 5k each side) 2. Turn 3, Distance: 10" to the first caster of WoC, needed a 2, rolled a 6 3. Got the one of WoC (nurgle- spec. character, festus?) and both DE-sorcs. Ended the life of both DE and got a wound on the WoC one. 4. Ended any magic they had left. Got a draw out of it. Lost pretty much everything, but my buddy nothing important and the WoC lost everything too :p
1. HE 2,5k 2. Never 3. None 4. He only got a lvl 2 Wizard in a bunker over 30" away from my caddy. He cc'ed after i killed his Dragon in a Challenge or more specific: He challenged me, did 1 wound, i did 2 wound on the rider, dragon couldnt stomp and did only 1 wound with his 7 Breathattacks on my SM. I won combat by 5 due to flankcharge, banner, ranks. He Rolled 7 + BSB dead = running dragon. Gnobblars run him down xD

1) Skaven at 2500 pts. 2) Turn 2, needed a 12 and got a 30. 3) Hit the level 4 and the level 2. 4) He rolled a 6 for both casters who were beside each other in the clan rat bunker and I managed to kill about 20 after it was all worked out and wound the lvl 2. Well I dont think it won me the game it did shut down his most important magic phase which he really needed so it definately help.

1. Vampire Counts @ 3000 pts. 2. Dawn attack, and my leadbelchers ended up getting into combat with the wizard turn 2, so I think I shut it down then to cause 3. all 4 of his wizards (everything within 30 in.) to roll on the miscast table. 2 rolled 7's, 1 rolled magical feedback, and 1 rolled something else. Managed to kill some zombies and some vampires, helpful... 4. It shut down that magic phase, but it didn't exactly win me the game. What one me the game was when his general miscasted on 2 dice, rolled a 3, and died... About a .2% chance of that happening!

Storm of Magic game. 3 vs 3 each had 2500 pts (our best and worst idea ever lol)
1. High Elves, Dark Elves, and Empire 2500pts each 2. Turn 3, was 6 inches away from the Empire caster on an arcane fulcrum. I rolled a 6. 3. 3 wizards, 1 empire and 2 DE's
Empire wizard, he got Magical Feedback and 3 out of their total of 5 wizards took a wound from it and they lost 4 power dice. The arcane fulcrum miscast just had it end up moving (random direction/amount) near the edge of a board far away from most units.
1 DE wizard lost all its wizard levels from power drain, and the other DE wizard was lost due to Dimensional Cascade. Neither of them were on fulcrums.
4. It really didn't do much besides shut down that one phase of magic. The HE player had Teaclis and some mage with the book so he was throwing 6 dice at everything and doing 80% of their casting to start with anyways. We just made it so he was doing 100% of the casting instead now.
It was quite epic though and took a little bit to resolve it all. Our plan was just to get the Empire wizard on the fulcrum as all the other wizards were pretty far away from me, but I got lucky rolling a 6 and was able to catch both the DE's wizards. He wasn't happy at all hehe.

The bsb was all that remained... 4. Didn't really win me the game. Play error on my part and a failed charge took my ogre horde down...

1. Vampire Counts 2. Turn 2 Bottom 3. Injured both Level 4 necro and vampire lord with a 8, vampire lord backflipped out of a cascade, but 12 skeletons were not so lucky. 4. Shutting down that specific magic phase sealed the game, as he couldn't heal injured units currently engaged which allowed me to pop them on his turn allowing me to reform my main engaged unit to crush his vampire lord's unit.

Why would anyone keep a running tally since it's not the purpose of the thread? It's worth keeping until people stop posting results. And yes, people actually read it.
I'd prefer to read it without distracting comments though. Perhaps another thread for that.

With his few dices left he got IF on his War Altar to put Speed of Light on Flaggies.

Okay, I haven't done this for a while, so I'll do my past few games with successful Hellhearts...
1. Tomb Kings, 2000 2. Turn 2 3. Sent his hierophant into the warp 4. I don't think it gave me the win, but it was icing on the cake!
1. Vampire Counts, 2500 2. Turn 3 3. Caught all 4 of his necromancers (1 lvl4 general, 3 lvl 1 vamps), he rolled "all wizards take a hit" twice and killed off the 3 level 1s, while his general barely escaped! 4. It definitely threw him for a loop! It kept him from regening his zombies with the 3 sig spells that he had, so I was able to keep chewing through them quickly
1. High Elf/Wood Elf Alliance, 2500 altogether 2. Turn 3 3. High Elf priestess exploded all around herself, killing some archers, but didn't die. 4. It didn't help me win, but oh well, I still won anyway

Hi lads! I am compiling a list of how the Hellheart has performed in battle. Something to compare the hype to our perception of the item. The preferred format for easy comparison is:
1. Skaven 2400pts ( 3 warlocks, furnace and strolk) 2. Turn 2 many failed frenzy tests and both plague casters were in combat, was only looking to affect them. Rolled 5. 3. 3, two 9's and a 6 but all wounded the other casters killing them all and skrolks took his last wound 4. Didn't an me the game as stupid cannons did a number on me but greatly helped and was able to get a small victory by the end

3. Got necro and vampire. Vampire rolled 6 and 'Look out Sir!' rolled the hit from himself away (Template, so you can take the roll =__=) and Necro got 5 and did the same. Vampire's blast killed 9 ghouls and necros killed 6 zombies.
4. Shutted the magic phase, but thats it. Next turn he got..erm..15 zombies back and 8 ghouls. He had 3 wizards but it didnt reach the last one by inch. (Also..He lost to me only with the last edition book against lizardmen..that is his only game that he has lost in our gaming group. =__=) And no, it didnt help me win the game..lost anyway. =.=

I'm pretty sure you can't 'look out sir' vs Miscasts, as the BRB specifically states that the Wizard IS hit:
"All models under the template (Including the Wizard)..."
Thinking about it logically the wizard himself is blowing up so no matter how may people push him in any direction he'll always be in the centre of the blast.

1: Vampire Counts(2500) 2: Turn 5 3: rolled a 2 and only snatched his general, who rolled an 8. So I wounded a Necromancer(who promptly healed himself with the lore attribute) and got rid of 3 power dice.
4: Really didn't effect anything this game.

1. WoC 2. Turn 3 3. rolled a 5 and got both wiz (needed a 4+). He had the puppet so just shut down that magic phase. 4. not copping a Psun to the face allowed me to run amok until his juggers got amongst my bulls. then it was a loss...

1. Lizardmen 2. Turn 3 3. Rolled a 1 and got only his slann (would have needed a 2 to get two priests also) 4. Still a BIG impact. He rolled the "every mage takes a S6 hit" on the miscast table, which meant the death for his two heavens skink priests, who were already both down to their last wound. Also shut down the magic phase.

played a game with a buddy who plays HE against our friends chaos. we each took 1500 and he had 3k. game didnt turn out to great for us lol but we sure put the hurt on some chaos warriors.
1.WoC 2.turn 2 3.rolled a 6. needed a 4. hit archaon. festus. and a level 2 nurlge sorceror 4.it had a great impact but we still lost. took a wound of archaon. turned his level 2 into a level zero and did a wound to him. almost sucked festus into a hole but he passed his test. but did a wound to him. shooting phase i sniped him with maneaters. and i killed 8 warriors. it stopped all of the super buff magic nurgle has now for that turn and the rest of the game. archaon took metal.

These are the hellheart results from my games at convict. Usually I would wait until I was pretty close to my opponent before using it. So it would usually go off mid game. 15 Powerdrain on a lvl 2 Vampire, loses one level and Mindrazor 30 Highelf Archage loses 3 levels 20 lvl 1 Beast Butcher suffers a Dimensional Cascade and is sucked into the warp. 30 Vampire lvl 2 Dimensional Cascade and dies. Necromancer Dimensional Cascade reduced to one wound. Kills all skeletons in unit except for the standard. Kills a Banshee and leaves another with one wound. Double Cascade kills all 3 mournfangs in combat with the skeleton unit and takes two wounds off the Tyrant. Vampirelord blows up Blackknights, 1 casualty due to ward and regen.
Actions speak louder than words, unless your eating a mime of course.

dwarves 2250 didnt use, because dwarves lost the game, but for reasons other than magic
beastmen 2250 turn 3; rolled 4 (20") affected 2 shamans both level 2; both rolled the small blast on them, but were both solo and not close to anything, but reduced him to 4 power dice vs 7 or 8 dispel dice i was stomping him anyway, no pun intended, so didnt give me the win, just secured a table wipe
daemons of chaos 2250 turn 3 rolled a 6 (30") affected daemon prince of tzeentch, herald of nurgle and block of pink horrors; prince rolled an 8, ever model that can generate dice takes a S10 hit and lose power dice, the nurgle herald got the cascade, large blast wiped about half the unit, and the block of horrors took 2d6 S10 hits, killing only 3 nurgle herald did not get eaten by the warp, but he had 0 power dice and could not cast anything i dont think it would have made a difference, since his daemon prince died that turn, his block of nurgle guys were reduced to 2 models and his seekers of slaanesh were reduced to the champion, but the entire game i dominated the magic phase of both turns

2500 VS Empire
Turn 3 at 19" away from the furthest mage. My opponent had 3 of them. Rolled a 5 got all three mages Rolled a 11, 9 and a 6 Reduced one wizard to a level 0 from 2 Took out a portion of his horde Haberdiers and detachment, a wound to the War Alter and rider, and a wound to the Harcanum (I'm sure that is spelled wrong) Rendered his magic phase useless Gave me a major opportunity to advance with no impediments. I won but not so much because of the Hellheart but did make it easier.

Oh my Maw I love this item.
Orcs and Goblins, 3250 points. 10 odd inches from his line, use the hellheart. He took 2 level 2s and a level 4, the level 4 and a level 2 blew up, taking a third of their respective units with them. The last level 2 lost a wizard level and was left with his worst spell. I felt so mean :L
I miss the Tenderiser... I used to be called "Ghlezgar", if you want to know.

1) High Elves 2) 2000pts 3) Turn 3. I was inside 10" and rolled 20" for distance; he only had one wizard though. 4) Caught a Level 4 Archmage and made him take a wound. It didn't win me the game, but shut down his magic phase as it drained all four of his power dice. This stopped him adding to his Ward Save with successful High Magic casting, and that did allow me to kill him the turn afterwards.
TL;DR - it didn't win me the game but killed his Archmage, which was a big swing in my favour.
-----------------
1) Skaven 2) 2000pts 3) Turn 3. I was 20" away and I rolled 25" for distance. 4) Caught a Grey Seer + 2 Engineers. The Grey Seer lost a wizard level and the Plague spell, one Engineer exploded, killing 8 Clanrats, the other Engineer lost all his Wizard levels and forgot Crack's Call.
It did not win me the game, but meant I took slightly less damage before combat than I otherwise would have; the units he would have targetted that turn were not the ones which were able to charge him in my turn, although getting rid of Plague saved me a headache.
-------------
1) Tomb Kings 2) 2000pts 3) Turn 3; needed 15" or more to get both of them, rolled 25". 4) Caught the Grand Heirophant special character and a level 2 Liche. The Grand Heirophant cascaded, but didn't die; he killed 6 Skellie archers in the explosion though. The level 2 lost Birona's Timewarp, which I was pleased with.
It didn't win me the game but it could have if his Heirophant had died to the Dimensional Cascade.

1. Tomb Kings @ 2250pts 2. Turn 3. 18" Away rolled 30" for distance 3. Both his Level 4s. Wound on each, 3 dice lost from the pool and the bunker unit they were in wiped out. 4. Neither. His army was about to die my next turn as his Tomb Guard were getting hit in the flank by my Ogres, Leadies into the flank of his Chariots and fangs into the flank of his big block of Archers.

1. Bretonnia 2. 2000pts 3. Turn three. 15" away, rolled 30" 4. His lvl 4 rolled Magical Feedback; both lvl 4 and lvl 2 took a wound and 4 dice lost from 11. Lvl 2, 20" away, rolled Dimensional Cascade; rolled 1 to wound so survived! though took 6 men-at-arms and another 5 dice from pool.
It didn't win game though shut down his first big magic phase and ensured his lvl 4 died in close combat during coming fight.

1. Bretonnia 2. 2000 pts 3. Turn 2 ~10" away, rolled 25" 4. Rolled magical feedback. One level 2 took a wound, another level 2 took a wound, took away dice from pool, ended phase. Didn't win the game, but helped shut down a phase that he would have gotten more Grail Knights back with Lore of Life.
1. Daemons 2. 1500pts 3. Turn two, when all his wizards were nicely close. Needed about 10" got 25". 4. Daemon prince and herald. Daemon prince got Calamitous Detonation and lost a wound. Herald got Magical Feedback, took no wound, but the prince took another one. 5. The hellheart evened the odds a bit, after I expected to face an OnG army (and built my army list with that in mind), but instead had to face off against the demons.

Needed about 10" got something about 20" 4. lvl 2 Wizard got Dimensional Cascade and lost a wound. 5. If I had remembered to use it earlier it would have saved my bulls from some hurt, but in the end of the game it didn't change much of the outcome.

1: Empire 2: 2000 pts 3: Turn 3, 19 inches away. Rolled a 4. 4: Level 4 dropped a small template on the unit, lost a wound himself, lost 1 power die. 5: Nope, I was crushed, and didn't even slow down that magic phase due to bad dispel rolls and casting rolls on my part.

1. Lizards 2. 2400 3. Used it turn 3 and shut down the magic phase, the Slann had 9 dice. 4. Large template on Slann, Slann takes wound and kills a couple of skinks. Skink Priest 1 - sucked into warp (still had unused cube and the Comet spell ), wipes out 8 skink skirmishers, Skink Priest 2 - also Dimensional Cascade, wipes out 7 or 10 skirmishers but doesn't get sucked into warp! 5. Didn't win me the game but shutting down this magic phase was a big deal.

1. Wood Elf, ETC 2400 2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? Second turn his main bus was in combat 6 inches in front of my Butcher. Rolled a 6! 3. How many wizards and how were they affected? Both of his casters. The Level 4 on Beasts got a power drain and lost 3 casting levels, only had Pelt left to cast. Level 2 Metal took a wound. 4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion? Having his Level 4 turn into a Level 1 probably won the game. This was huge because ETC gives Woodies always strikes first. That bus hurt a whole hell of a lot more re-rolling misses than they did without ASF. His Lord and BSB on Stag wrecked a bunch of guts. Especially with the Spear to make me hit at -1.

1. High Elves, 2500 pts 2. How long did I wait, and what was the distance rolled: Second turn, his white lion bus was 14 inches away. I needed a 3, rolled a 5 and got all of his casters. 3. How many wizards?: 3 wizards: a level 1 light mage, a level 2 light mage, and Alarielle. 4. What happened: Alarielle rolled a 4 (though she wasn't nice enough to jump down a hole), and the other two caused detonations and dice loss. 5. Did the Hellheart win/lose the game for me: It definitely won the game for me. Took out an entire magic phase (10 dice to 5) and killed several white lions, even under the banner of the world dragon.

2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? Please put in here if the carrier died/fled before being able to use it or if you were playing a zero caster opponent.
Turn 3
3. How many wizards and how were they affected? Could be zero plus Two, Festus lost 3 wizard levels. Small template on the other.
4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion? Nope, the two Ironblasters did. Bellakor taken out by a Blaster turn 2.
Zolas25 Jun 2014
1. Vampire Counts 2400pts.
2. Vampire turn 3. Intended to get 2 vamps in a black knight bus, rolled a six getting all casters.
3. All 4 of his casters. 2 cav Vamps (1 death magic, 1 vamp magic) level 4 nerco vamp magic and ghoul king vamp magic. Miscasts killed the Vamp cav with death magic, 4 ghouls, 2 black knights and put some wounds on the other casters. No other effects apart from draining all his power dice.
4. It certainly totally shut down a magic phase. Killing 1 Vamp was very helpful but I don'y think it won me this game. There was a lot of "Dice Gods moments" in this game that really shook up the whole battle.
Kind regards Zolas

1. Enemy army and Battle Points Size: Lizardmen 2000 points 2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? I was planning on using it when he was within 15, but he moved closer on his turn to bring himself within 6 inches 3. How many wizards and how were they affected? One level 4, Ethereal Slann with a ton of gear. 4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion? It turned a game I was losing into a game around for me. While it didn't win me the game, it greatly swung it in my favor

2. Turn 2. His DP went for my mournfang and was tied up in combat. Turn 2 I was able to march next to the DP (within 5 inches) and pop it.
3. One level 4 DP with plenty of gear.
4. I don't think it won the game for me. I'm pretty confident I would have won anyway, but without a doubt it was a huge boon as it sucked is DP into the warp. That freed up my mournfang to bust up his other stuff. At the end if the day, it turned a 1000 point victory into a 1600 point victory.

1. VC 5500 points 2. Turn 3 I think. 20" range 3. got 2xlvl1, 2xlvl4. All of them rolled the lowest result. Killed about 30 odd skeletons. No one cascaded :\. Stopped his magic phase though. 4. I lost the game in the end but the HH was a good move at an important time in the game. If his lvl4 death cascaded then it would've won me the game as in the next round Pit of shades killed about 1000 points of Ogres.

1. Enemy army and Battle Points Size WOC, 2000 points 2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? Turn 3. Daemon Prince was 6 inches away. 3. How many wizards and how were they affected? 1 Level 4 Daemon Prince. He lost 3 wizard levels (he lost one earlier) rendering him inert in magic. 4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion? No. It earn it's points, but was far from game wining. I struggled in magic the whole game and wasn't really able to capitalize on his weak magic defense. He also had a Vortex Beast who didn't have to suffer the miscast, and left him able to cast powerful spells just the same. I made this as an all comers list, and I would have gotten much more millage if I would have taken 50 points of other stuff.

1. Enemy army and Battle Points Size: Vampire counts at 1500 2. How long did you wait before using and distance rolled? 2 turns 15 3. How many wizards and how were they affected? 2 wizards, 1 wound inflicted upon each. 4. Did the Hellheart win/lose you the game in your opinion? It shifted things strongly in my favor. I may have won anyway, but the hellheart essentially nuked one magic phase for my opponent. He was running a themed army of undead (zombies, skeleton warriors and grave guard, mainly with Necromancer's as his General and level 2 caster) and relied heavily on the "Invocation of Nehek." Preventing that spell for a turn did a lot of damage to his army. Granted, my gutstar would have plowed into his Mortis Engine either way, which would probably have guaranteed me victory. It felt a little cheap, but it was my first victory, so I'll take it!

1. Deamons of Chaos 2400pts.
2. Turn 2 rolled 2 making 10 inchs (need 12 so needed a 3)
3. None. Curses.
4. No effect but the potential damage could have been big as I was aiming for a unit of horrors and level 1 and level 2 bunkered in a building. A roll of 3 would have effected all of them.
Kind regards Zolas.

2. Turn 3. Druthu charges my irongut unit (containing the hellheart). Meanwhile, the Sisters of the Thorn bunker with the Level 4 Wizard in it had moved up within 20 inches. Needed a 4, rolled a 6.
3. You cannot ask for a better hellheart. Druthu jumps down a hole, the wizard is power drained into a level 1, and the Sisters lose 3 of their number. Glorious.
4. Auto win. He surrendered right there. Of course, we decided to play on as though the hellheart didn't go off (he just skipped that magic phase), just to try out Druthu. I lost in that alternate universe.

3. BOOM! 3 Dimensional Cascades and a small template blast later, no wizards dropped down the hole, but no wizards survived the resulting explosions either (units had already been chewed through by Maneaters and Ironguts)
4. Turn 1 victory. Unfortunately he had clustered his entire army around the gatehouse. So when I pushed his units out of the gatehouse on turn 1 and detonated them on his turn 1 that was game over.
