The Bloody Paw Tribe (a couple of gaming pics added 22/11)

original thread ↗

Here's some (most) of my painted Ogres.
With the new book I'm all excited to get this army finished and some new stuff added.
I'm playing a one day campaign thing with some chums in mid-November so I need a 2.5K force finished by then.
The intention is to Gnoblog here and on my blog about how the army comes together. Painting, modelling, great victories, craven defeats the usual stuff.

But first some eye candy:

(There's only one Tyrant model, I just took two pics)

My army used to be MSU and I never finished painting it.
It was begun as allies for my small Kislev force, hence the wings on the Maneater/Bruiser and the Bear Paw Gutplate. The Tyrant used to sport wings too, but they've snapped off and I'm not sure I can be bothered to fix them...

They're called The Bloody Paw Tribe because that's what they always were: Bloody Poor.

Hopefully with a new book, 8th Ed rules and some advice from here I can start winning a few.

In addition to what you see here I have:
25 Gnoblars and 9 trappers - all painted I just couldn't find the move tray for pictures.

6 more IG
4 more Bulls
Another Butcher
Hunter
Old Metal Scraplauncher
2 Sabertusks
Another IG SB, who'll be converted to an ASB - all of which are assembled and undercoated.

Then there's a giant some more leadies and a few more bulls still on the sprues.

The goal is to put paint to some or all of these sharpish and get a 2K list up and running.
I'd like to add some of the new toys (especially Mournfangs) but don't know if I've the time before mid-Nov.

First game is next Wednesday...

I've posted my first new book army list over in the army list forum.
Rather than have two threads going, why not pop over there and give me any feedback.

Looks good. The placement of highlights is very realistic. Try putting some more shadows on the banner, and maybe some symbol, like the paw everybody has on the gutplates.

I really like the wings on the paymaster model, putting them on everyone might be overkill but at least a few more should have something similar, it would give your army more of a theme and visual interest.
It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway train—a shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter.

Thanks for the reply.
Yep, the banner needs work. A dirty great Bloody Paw is indeed the plan.
Glad you like the skin, I find the models are so good painting them is easy. God bless Brian Nelson!
I'm unsure about the back banner wings, but may try pinning them back on the Tyrant.

I started work on a trio of Ironguts to add to the Bloody Paw Tribe.
Of course my Ogres date from the "Grey Skin" period of the first book, so this won't be of much use to anyone painting them in the all new flesh coloured flesh.

Over a black undercoat I've so far painted (all GW paints)
Metal: Drybrush Boltgun Metal
Skin: Charadon Granite
Leather: Snakebite Leather
Shoes, Skulls and Teeth: Scorched Brown
Stones: Adeptus Battlegrey

A few more pics of the single fella can be found on My Blog

Looks like my ogres, but my skin is heavy drybrush of adeptus battlgray then wash with badab black in all crevases. Honestly yours are quite nice. Keep up the good work.

There really is something about your painting style. I think you could thin your highlights a little more, and maybe add some rust to the metals, but I love what I see so far.

As always a few more single pics over on The Blog

Thanks for all the positive feedback from my fellow Tyrants. :)

I played a small campaign weekend using the big lads.
Unfortunately I can't remember many details, but I did take lots of pictures.
Here's a couple featuring The Bloody Paw Tribe:

Lots more pictures (though not many with Ogres in) over on My Blog
