You'll only have to worry about allocating if some of the models aren't rank and file... so the rules are in the character section.

I apologize I don't have my rulebook with me. But for rank and file . You allocate the wounds to one model at a time or all on one model then move to the next?
Thanks guys

For ballistic skill shooting, all wounds go onto the rank and file units. Essentially the unit is one "pool" of wounds for shooting. Once you determine how many unsaved wounds the unit has taken, you divide that number by the number of wounds on each model, and remove that number of models and note wounds that are carried over for the next time. There's no allocation like in 40k.
For example, say a unit of ogres takes 8 unsaved wounds from shooting. You would remove two ogres, ie 6 wounds, and then there would be 2 wounds left over. If the unit takes one more would you remove another ogre because the 2 wounds from before combine with the new one.
This is on pg 45 of the brb.
Template weapons work differently in that they can hit characters or the unit champion specifically. They get a look out sir roll however.

There is a sort of allocation you can do if your unit is small enough or you have a character who's troop type does not match the unit he has joined.
So if you have less than five rank and file models (including muso and standard) you can assign one hit to each model in the unit as you see fit. You cannot add a second hit until all models have been assigned one hit. (page 99)
Example:
Unit of two rank and file ogres, full command and a character for a total of six models. The unit takes 7 hits from shooting. You assign 1 to each model and the remaining to your choice, let's say the character in this example because he likely has the better chance of saving. Let's say that the two hits on the rank and file and on the muso and standard all wound, thats 4 wounds to the unit, take a model off and carry one wound over to the last rank and file ogre. The champion also takes a wound and the character saves one. So six woods on the unit but only one model lost.
The allocating to the champion is a grey area as it says you cannot shoot e champion till all other rank and file are gone (page 93), but page 99 says each model must be allocated a hit ...
Hope this helps.
