As much as I love the maneater miniatures, (especially now that theyre resin) i dont really like to pay that much money, for a single miniature. Ive been thinking about some conversions, but nothing that im happy with so far..
Is anyone with some experience or nice ideas on this?

Just take a plastic ogre and add bitz from other kits, like Empire shields, guns and feathers. Use the existing Finecast models as inspiration. You can get bitz from other armies by simply asking your friends for extras, in this age of plastics everyone has extra shields standards and other gubinz.
