Cannon Converion Conversation - Ironblaster

original thread ↗

So back in early 7th when i started playing ogres, i had this army theme i was doing:  all shooty.  4 scraplaunchers, 3 hunters, deathstar of maneaters and characters with brace of handguns, and 2 Dogs of War Cannons.

well with outlawing DoW and then 8th edition and now new book, things they are a changing and i must change too.

anyway, when i made my DoW Cannons, to go with my Ghetto-Fabulous army theme concept, i converted the barrels of my 'Dwarf Cannons" into bottles of Cristal.  it was funny and people got a kick out of it.

now, we have the Ironbreaker, and i'm thinking about converting that also, but it is obviously on a bigger scale than the cannons.

intro done, here's the real question:

How difficult is the replacement on the Ironblaster barrel with something else?
is it an integral part of the design or parts that hold onto it are molded with?  i'm gonna buy one after the Stonehorn, but i want to know if i should start looking for bottles now.

what say you builders of ironblasters?

Replacing the barrel should be easy. Since the bigger part of the model is designed to work as both an ironblaster and a scraplauncher the cannon is basically a snap-fit. The ogre behind it is holding two straps that go around pegs on the top and bottom of the barrel, so you may have to do some converting on his arms, but that's about it. :)
It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway train—a shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and un-forming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us, crushing the frantic penguins and slithering over the glistening floor that it and its kind had swept so evilly free of all litter.

+1 on it being easy, the barrel has two pegs that connect it to the horns, and the ogre's straps are made to fit a cylinder, so if you made the bottle the same diameter as the original it should fit no problems.

I'm doing something similar except will be using the old scraplauncha and removing the catapult section and replacing it with an Empire Great Cannon.  Will remove the wheels and mount the Cannon chassis onto the frame of the scraplauncha and remodel a bull as the rider.

I have an old rhinox rider that I used back in 7th & 8th, but now it is no good...
So I am making a big cannon with the empire morter ends and mounting to the front of the rhinox/rider.

I will post some pics when I get time.

P.S. I will also be buying one as well so then I have two different ones!

Cheers,
