My ogre horde

original thread ↗

Hello, I posted these up on another forum, and just noticed that I had a message from hragged wondering if I could post them here for folks to see... So yeah, here they are.

I've actually done these chaps for Ebay to make some pennies for myself, but I love the models so much, I'm really having to battle the urge to do my own. I haven't gamed for about 5 years, but I still love building up units and armies. I think I'm going to fail at containing myself completely. If nothing else, I'm considering a Thundertusk diorama for Golden Demon next year. That model's bloody awesome!

It's not helped by the fact I have a whole Ogre army part built, boxed up somewhere in my huge pile of minis, from when they first came out. Must be strong willed, must not concede!

For now, I have some Mournfang cav to finish, then an Ironblaster to do.

Welcome to the Stronghold.
They look great. In fact, they are pretty gorgeous.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Wow, you painted very well the blood...  How did you do it?
Glad folks like them. I had a bit of a break from painting over the last few days, so I'm ready to get my Mournfang Cav finished today I reckon. Will get started shortly.

The blood is done using a Tamiya paint called clear red. You can put it on raw and it's really shiny and glossy, or if you want it to look a bit older, mix in some black to take the shade down a bit. Also, if you let it get exposed to air for the right amount of time it starts to go tacky in the paint lid and you can stretch out individual strands of stringy blood and put them over the model. Works really well on blades as you can see a bit more clearly in this pic.

I'll hopefully have the 6 Mournfang I'm doing up later on today. :)
Didn't finish the cav off in the end, but got quite a bit of work done on them. Still quite a bit to do. The Mournfang are pretty much finished off, but the Ogres not so much. Have to finish off the metals, do the skin, highlight their trousers, add finishing details and highlights all over. Probably only three or so hours work, but I'm done for today.

Have lost steam with these a bit in truth. Just don't find them as inspiring as the big beasties and the characters, so I've not given them quite the same level of love.

Amazing, I hope to be able to paint like that someday :o
Damn... you paint fast.
