Hey guys,

So flaming sword adds a +1 modifier to wound rolls, which according to the GW FAQ, means that somethign that requires a 2+ to wound will still wound even if a 1 is rolled.
Does that work on the opposite end of the spectrum? Will the scraplauncher killing blow work even if a 5 is rolled?

Nope. Killing Blow happens when you ROLL a 6, not reach 6.
