The Mighty Kalvargs of Norsca - (2.5.13 BSB and a Maneater)
New ogre player #578912 reporting for duty! I'm building a different sort of Ogre army though and thought i would share with the experts. Going for a Norse Frost Giant look with these guys but am also interested in writing full lore and background for these guys so i can be mostly free in doing what i want visually.
Almost every model will be modified in someway to fit the theme and to to this end i even have a few boxes of the AoW berserkers for my gnoblars so i think the army will look pretty striking on the field. Let me know what you think!

Nah, this is just a bellower for an Ogre (bull) unit. Currently still in WiP but also the only one that has any paint on it other than primer. Thanks!

Great start, cool pose!
The AoW Berserkers standing in for Gnoblars will be Norse Dwarfs I take it? That's a nice looking kit.
FearPeteySodes29 Aug 2011
Yep right on the head for the dwarves Hragged, thanks for the compliment! I also really like the sculpts they made and i don't think i could spend much time on such a small chunk of my army to make it fit so I'm excited to make them!

This is very relevant to my interests. You know what would be awesome? Converting up a unit of ironguts to look like the characters from The 13th Warrior, and using Ibn as a look out gnoblar.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Loving the theme, the conversions and how you can take so much inspiration from thor/scandanavians and other films! Has the first bellower got any weapons modelled onto his back or at his side? looks a bit naked, Cheers, TLK

Thanks! The Bellower has a similar coned shield as the SB on his back and an axe at his side on a belt loop that i removed for painting. He'll get it back soon!

Work is busy so progress is slow. But heres a WiP shot of my Butcher/Slaughtermaster that I'll be calling a Runeshaman or something of the like:

Incredible-Just jaw droppingly good....
I do hope you realise that my GS and brushes are increasingly getting close to being binned the more I see on here....I mean. whats the point.....
I really am getting tonnes of inspiration from this site, just keep getting blown away with what I'm seeing

Nice use of the extra club. I'm liking the look of the runecaster, but it has two eyes, and really, doesn't gouging one of those out just feel right?

Great sculpt. Really original pose and it looks quite menacing.
I see mouldlines on the weapon. Don't miss them.

If you add a hammer to that BSB - Thor in da houze!
Excellent stuff, and personally with such GS skills as you have, I would probably use that assassin as a Gorger instead.
My hood is my castle...
Moniker06 Feb 2013
That is a great BSB! I'd love to see him painted, and with more angles.
Zolas06 Feb 2013
Wow the beard work on that BSB and the shin guards are just mint. Exceptional work.
