Golgfag Maneater Through the Ages

original thread ↗

With the new Golgfag miniature appearing on the web, I thought it would be interesting to look back at his previous incarnations and see how his new look compares with the old. He's probably the most commonly known Games Workshop Ogre character, having been around since the early 1980s across numerous editions of Warhammer, and it's great to see him making his return in the new Ogre Kingdoms army book! :D

He's gotten bigger... ;)

Plus, he seemed to lose his mace for the 90's and replaced it with a spiky stick. Maybe that's why he was merc'ing - to get it back!

The answer to everything is sabretusks.  There is no problem that can't be solved at least in part with kitties.

Record: 17/14/5
Last game: 2400 vs Warriors - Win
Learning Points: Cannonballing off a Disc Riding Chaos Lord is immensly satisfying!

Ogre Achievements: 52/101
Latest Achievement: Timber!
That's pretty awesome to see. Gnoblar for Hragged.

First, that's what she said.

Second, maybe it's the same mace? As Golgfag has grown up he has grown into the mace and can wield it one handed.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

His new rules reflect the fact that his armoury is every-changing, he can potentially spend more points on magic items that a lord!
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
New OK rules are getting Better by the minute!

Golgfag for persident!
My hood is my castle...

This is brilliant...!!! Golgfag actually appears as a mercenary who sit down around a campfire of Man-Eaters and tell them of all the places they haven't been. Furthermore, it might just be me, but Golgfag is beginning to take on a slight hint of Chaos in his appearance...
Hmm, not a bad looking fig. Might give ol' Sharkbelly a run for his money for captain.
They grow up so fast... ;)
I dissagree with him having a "Chaos in his apperance". Sure, he got the helmet and the shoulderpad, he probably looted it from some chaos lord, or a chaos ogre for that matter. But apart from that he is really not that "chaosy"
"One for all, and every man for himself"
I really love how he still has his spiked helmet after all these years...
Hurr Hurr Hurr
He's gonna get some conversion work done to become my new battle standard bearer methinks!!

at sea, in battle! Let the trial come!"
  :o  :?   :D :D :D :D

Awsome, YES!
I'm really tempted to run him in all my lists just because he's so iconic to me. I wish Games Workshop would give him a book trilogy. I'd be so much fun.

A Golfag Maneater series of books? Sign me up for that as a reader, I somehow figure it would be as comical as Greyseer thanquol but things will turn out right for em like Gotrek and felix and just be tons of fun to read :P

That is a great collage, brilliant to see the incarnations of him through the ages  :D

The more I see the new model the better it gets, which is funny because as soon as I saw him he took a place on my list of favourite mini's of all time  8)

You can't be old and wise, and have youthful memory... even if you are FF

I suspect I will use Golgfag extensively - the model is just too awesome

Golgfag as a book? I would fart a hole in pants of glee if it happened.

Yes I am an old man married with children but they can scream all they want about how cool their consoles are - they have no idea of the power of the da... Ogre Kingdoms.

Word!

btt: this Golgfag certainly has to endure some configurations upcoming, since I see clearly my new tyrant in this boy.
awesome mini :) a must in my army

Golfag Maneater series of books would be the best series ever. Please GW/BL write does books :D
Iron Tusk Tribe.

"His guts were gobbled then and there
The rest dragged back to Ogre`s lair"
He has put on weight over the years. Though in an ogre sense, that's never a bad thing.

And with the first three "age of legends" books being finished, we should see another trilogy of trilogies coming out. Maybe Golgfag will get a book. (though my money is on a dwarf book [Bugman or the White Dwarf], A chaos book [Archaon], and another vampire series. GW seems to love their vampires)
Gnoblar big game trophy rack:
Manticore        Lord of Change    Beastlord
Chaos Lord     Warsphinx            Bray Shaman
but their vampires are not sparkly......in fact they seem to go to amusing lengths to point out they are not sparkly :)

As well they should!...
OHHHHH, I'm excited! I also am thinking I may convert my Mournfangs to...Mourntaurs? Cenfangs? Badass quadrapedal Ogres :D
Hurr Hurr Hurr
It's odd, the only one I never really liked (or bought) was the 1998 one when Marauder were top of the pops and producing some fantastic Ogres.

The new one I really like, but would love to see in the flesh at the local GW store. Will probably get one, whether he'll be Golgfag and end being built exactly as shown is another matter... :)
The current model really looks like he has traveled the world, awesome!
Record since new book:

Wins: 12
Losses: 6
Draws: 4

Ogre achievements: 41/101
