Empire Ogres

So many moons ago I started an Empire based Ogre army and got quite a way through it.

I abandoned it after a tournament in favour of kislev however I have discovered that the doubles tournament I was going to ruins my plans. Was going to run with my friend both playing Empire. However apparently that's against the rules, can't have two empire allies together.

So back to the Ogres it is! However I rushed them out last time and they looked as such so I've decided to repaint some of it. The question is... Do I go for a uniform look or each ogre have a different colour?



I haven't touched the middle guy yet, going to give him stubble!

yesterday I painted these! "Gnoblar trappers". It makes me sad that it took me an afternoon and they are worth a massive 60 points!

My advice, use thinned Ogryn Flesh wash for some shade over the Ogre bodies. Make sure you suck up the pools with a thicker brush to get away from that dip look. I would use variated paints, hats and so on so you get a mercenary feel of your fatties. You seem to have gotten the geist with big hanging bellies - and crazy Ogres it seems who doesn't protect their most beloved part.

Stubble is easily and well done by applying the GW blue wash thinly.

You ogres seem to be missing their iron soles, which must make it hard to walk on those itty bitty feet.
As to your question, go with the same skin tone across the army. Since 50% of the model is given over to flesh, and the other largest portion is kind of hidden (the pants), painting the skin in a uniform color is the best and easiest way to get a cohesive look for the army.
