The tale of Captain Bloodbath Ironfist
Gather round now and let me tell you the tale of the most fearsome ogre pirate ever to sail the seas, or at least that’s what Captain Bloodbath Ironfist would you like you to think. Our tale begins many years ago aboard the pirate ship The Crimson Raven and her master the dreadful pirate Jebediah Greaves, possibly the worst pirate to hoist the skull and crossbones. The captain had laid course for the dread isle of Albion where he heard rumours of vast riches, in his typical style he arrived three years after the booty had already been plundered. What he did find floating on the wreckage of a ship would change everything.
As the Raven pulled alongside the wreckage the body of an ogre could be seen, something made the captain bring the body aboard. The ogre eventually woke and ate the ships doctor, Captain Greaves had a cunning plan to make the Ogre his bodyguard. He figured that having an ogre would make him feared across the seas, oh how wrong he was. Irongut had no memory of where he had come from, he knew he was an ogre and what and ogre was but beyond that nothing. The ogre didn’t really worry about it that much as it wasn’t important, as long as he got to eat he was happy. The problem as I mentioned was that Captain Greaves was the worst pirate the world had ever known, as time went on even Irongut noticed that his belly was never full. So using his great ogre logic he ate the former Pirate Captain Greaves and then the rest of the crew thankfully the ship was moored in Marienburg harbour at the time.
Our tale continues with the mighty ogre Ironfist in the mighty city of Marienburg. Word spread round the docks about the ogre feasting upon the crew and the dock workers began to refer to Ironfist as Bloodbath, stepping of the ship the new captain made his way into the city. Captain Bloodbath Ironfist found his way to tavern in the eastern district of the city and began to drink. The captain was sitting in the corner when a well dressed Halfling approached the table. A long conversation mostly on the part of the Halfling begun, the result was that Ironfist now understood that he could get better grub with the shiny coins the humans used. For a short time he considered what to do, in the end he decided not to devoured the cowering Halfling and set off to find a crew. Now Captain Ironfist’s reputation for eating humans made it very difficult for him to sign on new crew. In typical ogre fashion he decided that the best crew would be more ogres. It was then that the Great Maw cast its gaze upon our Captain, the city was packed with mercenary regiments awaiting the next campaign. Bloodbath was able to find himself a number of ogres who were looking for ways to expand there guts. What happened between the captain and these groups is unknown but Ironfist was able to assemble a crew of ogres. As usual these ogres had a following of gnoblars, they were of no importance to the captain. With the ogre crew aboard the Crimson Raven Captain Ironfist became aware that no one on board knew anything about sailing, he liked the black sails though. In typical Ogre fashion Ironfist split the group of Gnoblars into two groups and announced that they would be the Port Oar Boys and The Other Port Oar Boys, Ironfists cannot tell port from starboard. With his Gnoblar powered ship ready the newly renamed Blood Maw set out to pillage the high seas. The Blood Maw under Captain Bloodbath Ironfist began by attacking an transport ship heading towards the Empire. This battle was not one of grand naval warfare, essentially it was the Blood Maw pulling alongside and the ogres leaping aboard and butchering the crew. With the crew out of the way the pirates began to loot the ship, in the hold of the vessel Ironfist found a weapon of terrible power. In the Vast hold chained to the main mast was a giant, Bloodbath walked over to the chained creature and punched it full in the face, the creature remained on the deck and cowered before the Ogre. A series of grunts and roars were exchanged between the Captain and the Giant and the deal was sealed with Ironfist throwing a Gnoblar for the Giant to eat. From that day onwards the crew of the Blood Maw would set sail with the ships First Mate, Gorn the Giant.
Captain Bloodbath Ironfist and his first mate Gorn would earn infamy as ogre pirates.
