Mountaineaters

original thread ↗

Since I'm only just starting my Ogre Army, I thought I might as well start a blog.

So far I've only painted a Slave Giant and 5 Ogres. I'm only recently getting back into fantasy and GW on the whole, so my painting isn't really that great but I've remembered some techniques and I'm continuing to try new ones on a weekly basis.

Anyway here's some of my recent models. The final Ogre is my most recent and includes a different technique to do the metal and I've tried to be even neater with the highlighting, although it's not technically finished yet.

The giant was a pain to do as trying to drill through his metal fists took ages and resulting in me burning myself, nearly drilling through my leg and several drill pieces being turned into smooth rods heh.

I've not written an army list at the moment, as I'm just enjoying painting what I have, I'm also purchasing a lot of stuff off ebay which is really helping filling the army out, such as two butchers, a Tyrant, some leadbelchers and some more bulls, unfortunately everytime I tried to get a gorger I got beat >.<

I also have three Yhetees, a Hunter with his Sabretusks,  the limited Edition Bruiser with the handguns, Ironguts and a small amount of Gnoblars to paint.

I'm much more into fluff and reading books than properly gaming right now though.
"Ogres have been described by scholars as mentally, "thick as two short planks."
They have also been described as having enough intelligence
to nail the planks together and beat the observer to a bloody pulp."
Today I received some reinforcements in the form of two butchers, a tyrant and four leadbelchers.

At the moment the tyrant is using the two handed club and I'm contemplating converting him by changing his head to something else.

I also wanted to make his skin craggy and lichen like because I'm also considering switching my tribe to the Mountaineaters because I like their emblem and they are almost the same as what I have at the moment except they use rock gut plates which I'm unsure how to do.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

Depending on how skilled you are with a fine brush, you could do a marble effect on the gut plates I think that would look quite sweet. Or like slabs of granite with the coloured seems in, or just slate with like some cave paintings on?
Cheers,
