6 Large units of Skeletons
1 Giant
The Objective is to capture a cemetery.
Terrain is set up, looking at from my point of view from left to right a large group of rocks and a set of trees, the center of the table had the cemetery in it with at wall around it. And on right another set of large rock formation.
Deployment:
My opponent deploys 4 Skeletons with his Vampire Count and characters on the right side of the board along with his Giant and Wraith. Then his other two other unit of Skeletons on the left side to hold the flank.
My deployment from left to right Rhinox riders, with a Butcher behind them, the Yhetees in the center and then on the right side were my Maneaters, Ironguts, Maneaters, Leadbelchers, and Bulls. The Trappers went behind the right rock formation and my Tyrant when on the right by the Bulls, the Slaughter Master and a Butcher went behind the Maneaters and the other went behind the Rhinox riders.
Vampire Counts turn 1.
Everything but the Wraith move up he’s being stupid. Magic I play my Hellheart, he still cast spells but is only using the minimum dice to try and get the spell off. He ends up not getting any off. I think the Hellheart paid for itself. No shooting so it’s my turn!!!
Ogres turn 1.
Rhinox riders charges but I miss guess the range, magic I get off Trollguts off on the Rhinox riders and Toothcracker on my Maneaters. Shooting my Trappers shoot at his Giant doing 3 Wounds!!! End of round.
Vampire Counts turn 2.
Wraith charges my Trappers they flee but are caught and destroyed. Everybody moves up carefully. Magic His able to get off a couple spells to raise more skeletons, Dam!!
Ogres turn 2.
Rhinox riders now make a successful charge, and my Tyrant charges his Wraith. Leadbelchers move up and fire at the Giant and fire 22 shots but only doing 2 wounds!!! Rest of the army moves up. My magic phase is shut down. Combat Rhinox riders smash his unit of Skeletons. And overrunning into his backfield. My Tyrant whiffs and so does his Wraith.
Vampire Count 3.
His Giant charges my Leadbelchers who flee he then redirects his Giant into my Bulls. His unit of Skeletons with a Necromancer charges my Maneaters and another unit of skeletons charges my Ironguts but fail there charge everything else holds. Magic, my opponent gets off a spell that does one wound to my Ironguts and creates a unit of 8 or 9 Skeletons right in front of my Rhinox riders to pull them of the table. Combat the Giant does a head butt against the Bulls doing one wound. My Bulls do another 3 wounds kill off the giant with the new rules, the Bulls now get to Overrun even thought they didn’t charge. They run into the flank of his Vampires count Skeleton unit. Now because of the new rules you resolve this overrun now. My Bulls do 2 wounds on the Bull charge and another 6 from combat wining combat by 4 killing of some more Skeletons. His Skeleton and Necromancer do nothing against my Maneaters who smash back doing 9 wounds Winning combat and killing more Skeleton, but are stuck. My Tyrant now finally kills of the Wraith.
Ogre Turn 3:
Yhetees charge a unit of Skeletons with his second necromancer but fall short by ½ an inch. Rhinox Riders charge the new unit and destroys them and charges off the table. And my other Maneaters charges the group of skeleton that charged last round. I move my Tyrant up to charge his Unit of skeletons with His Vampire lord in it hoping to challenge him and end the game early by having his army crumbles. Magic phase is shut down again. Combat Rhinox Riders run over his new unit and the off the table. My Maneaters Destroys his unit of Skeletons and now overruns into the Vampire counts unit, this blocks my Tyrant from moving in and killing of his Vampire Lord. But now we have to fight this battle because of the new rules. I end up killing off only 2 skeletons. He does 1 wound to my Maneaters. My Bulls on his flank do another 5 skeletons winning combat but they stick around.
Vampire Count Turn 4.
The Vampires move up his last Skeletons to capture the cemetery. To make things shorter my Maneaters & Bulls smash his Vampire count Skeleton unit Killing off his lord, my other Maneater unit smashed the last of his skeletons in that unit and the Necromancer is overran and killed they over run into the last unit of skeletons and kills of 8. My opponent concedes the game he only has 2 units of skeletons left and 1 2nd level necromancer. I lost my trappers and that was it.
Now to the part everyone skipped to, lessons about the 7th edition rules.
1.If you overrun you get to fight that combat during the same run but you can only do this once. This can help you but it can also mess up you plans. And this can happen to you too. So you have to watch you flank even more closely.
2. As a lot of you know your Butchers and wizards can only use the power dice that they generate. This helped out a lot! It kept him from using a lot of dice to try to get a lot of skeletons out there.
Other than that the new rules didn’t affect the Ogre army that much.
