Battle for the pass, interesting

I'll have a map up later

The scout was huffing too loudly from the run back that he was unable to deliver his message at first. The tall figure of Grand Commander Maandhata was darkened as he stood in front of the early morning sun. His scarred left eye watched the messenger with a hard edge, as he did not wish to delay the march of his men any longer than absolutely necessary. Their force was disguised as a trading convoy to lure out the tribe of ogres which had recently sacked any number of the real traders.

"The ogres are here!" bursted the messenger, suddenly. "They have been spotted on the other side of this mountain pass!"

A smile crept up Maandhata's face. So, the brutes had begun their advance. He looked forward to the on-coming slaughter.

"Spread the word," was the commander's response, as the scout darted out to alert the others. The commander motioned for his personal beastmaster to bring Lavani forward. Gripping the enormous trident entrusted to him by Prince Brijesh, the man of Ind knew what must happen; he must drive out the foul ogres and restore order to Ind trading routes. Or die trying...

Raise your fist and as you land to smash his dragon say: killingblow mtf.

A lone ogre stumbled back into the camp, a number of broken spears protruding from his chest and flanks. The biggest ogre and self-proclaimed Tyrant of the Burning Wheel Tribe sat on a recently pilfered barrel enjoying a piece of what could be assumed was a horse. He grunted as the ogre approached "Wot 'appen'd to you... (he couldn't quite remember the ogre's name, he couldn't remember a lot these days, the fact did not bother him) ... runt?" The bull slobbered out" urrgg... We were raidin' a caravan, an' it weren't no caravan, they 'ad them Ind fighters with em! Loads of em!" The Tyrant put down his meal and removed his pistols from their resting places, taking time to note the name on one of them, "Nicholas" he tried to remember if he had eaten Nicholas, but all he could muster was a blurry image of blood and powder. "How's my hat?" he inquired of the injured bull " Wot? err.. its a good hat Tyrant"
"Good!" He leveled his pistol and finished off the bull "Alright! Lets go show these 'ere ind lads wot they get when they get in the way of a Burnin' Wheel!" He fired his other pistol into the air for effect, rousing his bodyguard and the remainder of his tribe into action.

Maandhata saw the great weapon-wielding Ironguts move forward into formation. His bloodthirsty grin spread even further across his face. This battle would be brutal and horrendous; just as he had hoped.

Rallying his troops around him, he decided to give one final speech before deployment.

"Men of Ind! We are gathered here today to destroy the brutes who have slain many of our merchants; the ogres. However, we must not falter in our assault, no matter how terrifying they may appear, for we shall be triumphant! Brahmin, Vashar, and Shavir all stand behind us this day! Let us make them proud of their worshippers. We shall crush the ogre threat! For Ind!!"

The men roared their approval and smashed their weapons against their shields. The day had already been won in their minds, as Maandhata never failed.

Tyrant Barugg joined his fellow maneaters in the center of the valley, the great bandit grinned from ear to ear as he looked upon the pathetic showing before him. "They're a bunch of farmers! They've got no guns! ha ha!" he brandished his own cherished firearms for good measure. "and..." a thought occured to him suddenly "They've got no lightning boys! I've got the lightning! har!" The other mercenaries seemed a bit confused by their Tyrant's odd behavior, but lately they just let such things slide, after all, who'd be dumb enough to tell him otherwise? "Alright! We're gonna run right through these indians and send them packing! And after that, we're gonna take their stuff! We'll eat well tonight lads!" The other bandits howled in agreement filling the valley with noisy bellows.

Tyrant Barugg the Gilded Belt, Lord of Plunder is in the maneaters, Kran the Tongueless is behind the maneater unit waving the standard of the burning wheel clan, which is... well a burning wheel taken off of an indian caravan. He can't say much, but he is enthusiastic.

Before riding onto the field, Maandhata met with the other leaders of the force. He watched each of them, as they were quite different from one another.

Patakin came bearing the banner of Prince Brijesh himself, his eyes full of hope. One might even say he looked naive, in his resplendant armour and bright young face. Maandhata hoped he would survive the battle.

Idhant was the opposite of Patakin; his eyes smoldered with barely controlled contempt and hatred. He would be riding his chariot into battle and he desired nothing more than to claim as many foul ogre heads as he could.

Finally, Maandhata's gaze fell upon Khadim. Khadim was one of the few wizards who sold their skills to Ind's mighty armies. A devout worshipper of Brahmir, he understood secrets of life that few others could know. His eyes reflected nothing but calm and a hint of sadness.

"Many will die today," spoke the mage, his voice raspy and etheral.

"But we shall be victorious, won't we?" asked Patakin, his voice sounding with worry.

"It is the deaths of ogres that Khadim foresees! We shall crush them and grind their bones to dust!" Idhant's sister and brother-in-law had been killed by a recent ogre invasion and his hatred was more furious than any other Ind troop on the battlefield.

Maandhata merely nodded. "They shall die in droves for the unholy destruction they have caused. We shall drive them from our lands and be cured of this plague! To arms!"

Idhant rides the purple chariot, Patakin is in the Royal Guard unit, Khadim is to his left, and Maandhata rides with the horsemen.

The Tyrant Barugg swung his arm in a forward motion and led his maneaters forward in a sprint, each ogre firing their handguns with as much flash as they could muster. Alongside him the leadbelchers moved carefully into position, all the while preparing the firing mechanisms for their pride and joys. Kran was eager to follow his Tyrant into the thick of the fighting, marching behind the maneaters and gesturing grandly with his fiery Emblem. "Hit em hard! We'll run right through em and take their Tyrant's head!"

Maandhata exclaimed with a foreign curse as lightning erupted from the tyrant's meaty fingers and blew the chariot to bits. Casting a stern glare at Khadim for not being able to stop the magical assault he saw the closer chariot battered with bullets, killing both the riders and the horses that would draw the chariot. He had underestimated the capabilities of the obese monstrosities; it would not happen again.

hmmm, okay, so the knights and general are at -1 to hit in close combat.

The Tyrant led the maneaters in a headlong charge against the indian cavalry, towards what he assumed was their leader, a rich looking human riding some kind of striped sabrestusk. "Come on! Kill him and the loot is ours! " He fired his pistol hap-hazardly in the rider's direction. As the maneaters closed with the knights, the battlefield grew misty, and a rain of ice fell upon their ranks. "Look at em shiver! Ha! Get me that cat! I want a new cloak!"

Hey Agoz, thanks for your comments on my list! Looking at it now, and with the costs of Skavenslaves in mind I think you're absolutely right regarding lowborn command costs - Evii, do you mind if I change them now, as long as I just keep a note of their original value for you?
