Lanka's "Men"-Eater's

original thread ↗

Hi ya'll,

as promissed I will start a blog off my Ogre Army. However, at the moment I only got some pictures of my (female) Tyrant, Lanka. Soon the rest of the army will follow as I finish them up.

Lanka herself is one vicious female ogre, she ate her own father in order to take control of his tribe. Nowadays she rules her tribe by eating all the male ogres who oppose her rule, none dare so anymore for fear that they also dissappear in her gut.

Years before this all happened she was a hired sword for the Empire, it is there she learned strategics and warfare. She learned of the bravest, smartest and most heroic the Empire has to offer. She wears armor magically forced and upon her breast she bears the blessed mark of the Great Maw, said to be granted to her by the Great Maw self. Combined with her greedyfist, golden club(golden sword from the rule book, count as) and enchanted shield (all acctually sculpted on her) she makes for a fearsome warrior in heavy plate.

The things she learned she now teaches her tribe, well... tries too..  See for your self!

First of all I am still trying to decide between two logo's for my tribe, having read my story you should get it...

The only real limit on the effectiveness of gnoblars is the owner's tolerance for painting so many of them.

You can't give her the enchanted shield as well as the greedyfist.  Both are magical armor.  You can however give her the greedyfist and an Ironfist she uses as a shield.

Other than that, very cool fluff and very cool looking model.  Can't wait to see her when she's done.
There is only news.  There is no good or bad.

Looks great! I would vote on the top logo, I'd imagine it'd be easier to paint on uneven surfaces.

Did you file off the beard? I'm unfamiliar with the female maneater model if that beard is separate or not.
Things happen, people die... usually when I'm around.
The beard is apparantly separate. Probably a good thing!

The answer to everything is sabretusks.  There is no problem that can't be solved at least in part with kitties.

So the sculpted hand on top of her hand is the Greedy Fist?

Looks good overall but that bit seems a bit odd. I suppose with a paint job it won't.

hey all, thanks for the responses...

First of all yes, she comes with an optional beard... to disguise her as a male ogre... she ofc didnt need that imo...

Secondly Randroid I agree with you, it looked odd.. so i removed the fangs... leaving her with a leather gauntlet... which I will free hand to look like a sabertusk's skinn... So it will still have a resembles to the fluff given in the armybook.

And last, thanks MaanNaam! I missed that, she will for the upcomming game have her enchanted shield and that leaves me points to spend elsewhere... thanks!

In the mean time I started painting her and her bodyguard of (for now) 9 Ironguts up, so far finished with the skin tones and atm working on the metals. After that I will continue with the cloth and details. Will post pictures in a few hours! XD
So here are the WIP pics for now:

Enjoy!
Interesting skin tone. I've never been able to get Black skin looking good. What colours are you using?

I am using scorched brown, some flesh and red and I mix those up. started with a scorched brown coat over a black basecoat... followed by a mix of scorched 70%, 20%% dark red and 10% flesh, folowed by a last coat of 50% scorched, 30% red and 20% flesh... took me a while to get the hang of it... but it works for me
Well I managed to finish the unit for last weekends tournament and ended 3rd!!!! So I won a nice gift certificate :D  (I acctually scored maximum ammount of points for painting!!!!!!! This also included convertions, basing, highlighting and freehands)

Here are some of the pictures of the unit:

(personally not all to happy with the free hand which I did in 2 mins, I am going to make it allot bigger).

(going to redo her hair to black with proper highlights and perhaps her plate to the same metal as the Ironguts, not her shield though.)

=================

And of course I am already working on their reinforcements(i want a unit of 6 by 3 Ironguts, also atm putting together 18 bulls for 2 units of 9 with each a butcher):

Hope you guys like it XD
No response whatsoever? You guys dont like them orso?
Liking the skin colour makes a nice change from the standard ogre skin colour, also your basing is very nice that unit looks great together.

Keep it coming!
