can enemy dispell rip spells even after he miscasts?

Quick question here.  If an enemy miscasts, is he still able to dispell the Gut magic buffs with the rest of his remaining power dice?

My gut reaction is "no" and I think this is will be the consensus.

That said, it doesn't quite say this explicitly in the rules. You could make the RAW argument that failing a dispel attempt with power dice stops you from further cast or dispel attempts, but failing to cast doesn't prohibit you from dispel attempts later in the phase... but I think it's pretty clear that a Broken Concentration means no dispelling.

If there is only one caster in the army then I would like to say no but I am thinking that he probably could dispel the Gut Magic but just with no Wiz lvl bonuses.

hmm well i played a couple games, and both games the enemy has miscated and abruptly moved onto dispelling my gutmagic with his remaining power dice,  each time i felt uneasy about the validity of it but, i am in no place to argue as i am just beginning to learn all the rules myself.  if anyone can point me to a refrence in the brb it would be appretiated

Are you talking about miscasting from IF? Or just Broken Concentration?

From the Miscast table, only one result, "Power Drain" results in the caster being unable to cast spells. (Assuming he survives the other results).

Broken concentration results in the same effect as a power drain. Wizard is useless.

I'd be in agreement that both these "unable to cast" means your wizard can't dispel. However, that doesn't stop you from nominating your army to do the dispel instead. I don't see anything in the BRB saying that a wizard with a Broken Concentration can't dispel explicitly, however.

assuming the following 2 situations are diffrent:

1. If I fail to meet a required casting roll for any of my spells(broken concentration), can i still dispell the enemy RIP spells?

2. If I miscast due to an Irresistable force or because of an item, can i still dispell the enemy RIP spells?

Of course he can. You can always dispel with whatever Dispel Dice you have even if there was never a Wizard in your Army. He does not, however, get to add that Wizard's level to the total for dispelling and that wizard can not use any items to aid the dispelling.

Yeah, I don't understand the problem there. You don't need a wizard to dispell !

At least it will make it a whee bit tougher to dispel the Gut Magic with no bonuses but 7's is still pretty avg on a 2D6 roll...

I haven't been able to find anything to tells us that a wizard cannot make dispel attempts if it has either miscast or failed to cast.  If anyone has found otherwise, then post it here.  However, this is all that I can find relating to the issue:

Under broken concentration on p32 it says that failing to meet the CV means that the wizard cannot continue casting.  On p35 it mentions under Dispel Value that a wizard who fails a dispel attempt cannot continue dispelling.  Under RiP on p36 it says that failing to dispel a RiP means the wizard can neither continue casting nor dispelling.

so in short :
p32) failed cast   => no casting
p35) failed dispel=> no dispelling
p36) failed dispel=> no casting

As Mercules said - you can continue attempts to dispel you just can't use the bonuses you might gain by that particular wizard (+level, items that contribute to dispel, etc).

According to what I find, you can continue using the wizards level as a bonus as well as any items that it is carrying.  The only case in which a wizard cannot attempt do these things is when it has failed to dispel something previously in that phase.  If anyone can find the text to say otherwise I'm interested in its page#.  I've got all that I can find in my previous post.
