Stonch! the Slavemaster, Grandgut of the Drudgemaw

original thread ↗

-“…like a terrible sandstorm he blew across the world, and in its wake all knew only fear. Stonch! bringer of the Maw had come.”

And then it was that He came upon the land…

Many tens of years ago, far longer than most Ogres can even remember, a Bull of great size stumbled out of the swirling eastern sands. Some say He came from Cathay, but most claim He was spawned by the Great Maw itself. It was then that a band of Ogres from a tribe of no significance happened upon this Monster, lurching naked and half-mad across the sands. Thinking Him easy prey they rushed towards him with the fury of lions…

Legend would tell of an epic struggle, but the truth of the matter is where there once was twenty-three, there then were two. The enormous Slavering Bull simply ate them one by one, bashing them deftly over the heads with their own clubs, which he then ate. Two however did manage to crawl away from the Hungering Beast and lived long enough to inform their Tyrant (who name is of no importance) of what they had seen out in the wastes, before they too suffered a similar fate from their own enraged leader. Filled with bloodlust (and just enough Ogre to want more) the Tyrant summoned his tribe and led them out into the dessert. They found only bones; the Great Bull had gone, driven ever onward by His mad wanderlust; a will that was not His own.

The Great Bull, invigorated by His meal, hurtled on with unbridled ferocity and stamina. For weeks He ran, crashing down upon the Mountains of Mourn with the full hunger of the Great Maw. In his wake the Great Bull left only whispers, whole tribes simply vanished (consumed), and soon rumors began to sweep across the lands of an unstoppable Beast Ogre. The first that dared to follow in His wake were the Prophets of the Maw, drawn to this juggernaut like a living conduit to their god. However it was not long before an entire tribes worth of Ogres followed in His path, and a whole menagerie of battered and broken creatures lucky enough to survive His wrath.

When the Great Bull reached the edge of the Mountains he finally stopped, and turned around. The moving mass of Ogres and Beasts behind suddenly halted, afraid of what might happen next as they had all witnessed this Creature’s raw power. The Great Bull simply leered across the assembled masses, then turned around a swept His outstretched arms across the horizon. With a great bellow the horde launched itself upon the Old World in search of their unending hunger; Stonch! and the Drudgemaw had come.
