Howdi from down under.
Just wanted to say hi. I'm form Sydney Australia and am newly returning to WHFB with 8th edition. I previously played 3rd, 4th and 5th ed's but gave it away with 6th and 7th.
I play 40k fairly competitively, however looked at 8th ed warhammer and liked what I saw in terms of a fun garage with mates type game.
My experience with 8th so far has been with Empire. I love plasting away with cannons and mortars. However thats all the army really has going for it. Sit and shoot gets kinda boring.
I had the chance to trade one of my 40k armies for some Ogres, and thinking they looked fun to paint I went for it. Reading through their army book, they just don't seem that competitive, but do look to be fun. I don't mind loosing so long as I enjoy the game, but that said I would like to give them the best go I can.
What I have is:
Tyant with sword & club
Bruiser BSB with Great Weapon
2 x Butchers/slaughter masters
5 x bulls club/ironfist
7 x bulls club/ironfist
7 x ironguts
1 x hunter w 2 x sabre tusks
1 x slave giant
7 x leadbelchers
10 x Gnoblar Trappers
3 x Yhetees
3 x Gorgers
WHat would people recomend with that lot and what should I look to get? Looking in the lists forum I see alot of armies have Gnoblar units. What role to they fill and do you think they are neccesarry in a succesful Ogre list? They strike me as using up points that could be spent on more glorious bellys!
Any advice and suggestions are appreciated.

Other than that I agree with Grey Templar. Gnoblars, being 2 points a model are a dirt cheap way of getting lots of ranks into an ogre army. Kept near the general and you have a steadfast ld 9 unit that likely will stick around for a couple rounds against pretty much anything. As mentioned a gnoblar unit is required to take the scrap launcher which is an amazing piece of death dealing equipment at range for ogres. Since it is a chariot/stonethrower that uses the large blast template and has killing blow it does a damn fine job of slaughtering the big blocks of troops you see nowadays as a direct hit can wounds like 30+ models on a 20mm base.
