Ordering OK models from Maelstrom

original thread ↗

Hello, just a quick question to the stronghold members asking if you have ever ordered any OK products from Maelstrom and roughly how long did it take you from ordering to 'item dispatched'
I ordered around £300 worth of OK and paints from them on the 24th feb, and I'm still waiting, I even emailed them a friendly 'status on my order' but no reply.
Just wondering how your experience has been with them as I can't wait to start my pledges and Gnoblog :)

Where do you live, as from what I've heard Maelstrom are pretty good ?

Also, ask here :http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218037&page=12
if you are DESPERATE to get in touch with them.
In live in northen Italy. It usually takes 15-20 days to arrive from GB. BUT it also depends on Maelstrom stocks...
I live in Sweden, and like I said, I ordered on Thursday 24th of Feb, two weeks ago today and still have not heard anything.
I have faith and understand my order was large (£300) but I can't help but worry that my order being so large will take allot longer than the two to three weeks I was told.
I understand I am being rather inpatient  but I just have so much enthusiasm to paint my army and share my stories.

No problems with Maelstrom for me.
If the stock is zero, then it takes much longer time too deliver.
Maelstrom seems not awser fast on questions.
I'm having delivery issues with MG too at the moment. Waiting for some dystopian wars stuff and abyssal dwarfs. It's the first time I've had any delay from MG though.

Just ordered some stuff this week, got the "Order Despatched" email two days later. It's not shown up yet, but I never pay extra for delivery!

The answer to everything is sabretusks.  There is no problem that can't be solved at least in part with kitties.

Not threadomancy (I hope) but just a note of despair that I am STILL waiting for maelstrom and no replies to my last 2 emails. That's over a month for Dystopian Wars and 3 weeks for dwarfs. Paint me the colour of unchuffedness.

Damn... Keep sending them emails, they MUST answer!
Have you tried ringing them?

Got to be worth it after this long.

I've ordered loads of stuff with no issues at all.
Little known Ogre fact No. 26:

The so-called 'Great Migration' was in fact a retaliatory invasion of Cathay.

But no-one tells an Ogre he's going the wrong way....
Are you guys using the "contact us" section on their website? I've always had really prompt responses to this form, never more than two business days.

I too have a decent sized order I am waiting on from Maelstrom. I contacted them about it and they have explained that orders from late Feb and early March are taking a long time to arrive for some reason, and that they should be arriving shortly! Here's hoping!

OK can be competitive at a tournament, I just tell kids i'm going to beat them up in the parking lot if they win.
Wayland Games has always been pretty fast to ship, and for the most part are even cheaper then Maelstrom(even more so when wayland as discount vouchers available).

P.S. that was not a plug for wayland, just my opinion, if you havent checked it out before and/or are having trouble with maelstrom then you might want to check out another online retailer.
I have had a response to my missing DW stuff saying it was sent in Feb. They appear to have overlooked that they split the order and only sent half so I am still waiting for the remainder. They tell me Mantic have delayed the release of Dwarfs but there are guys on the CDO forum who have had theirs for weeks.

I have had no problems with Maelstrom before- they have always been prompt- but I am losing confidence now. Their website for abyssal Dwarfs reads; "This item will be ordered from the supplier and usually dispatched within two working days of arrival." which is a little disingenuous if they cannot get supplies.

So, having had a chat round I learn that the Prussian DW stuff I have ordered is in high demand. I emailed Maelstrom on Fri to see whether if I changed my order to British they could ship any sooner (bare in mind now that my orginal order was 20th Feb).

No further news of dwarfs.

I will keep you all posted. :|

Yay!! Abyssal dwarfs arrived at last. Still waiting for those pesky dystopian wars Prussians but, hey, it's only been 6 weeks that Maelstrom have had my money without filling my order.

BTW GW could learn a bit from Mantic. The dwarfs are nice. Simple but cheap so a fair balance. The sprues are compact and come well packaged in a reuseable carry-box affair that you can put the completed models in. The quality of the plastic components is fair to good. Not up to the standard of latest GW stuff for detail but half the price! You get a couple of bonus models in the box too (two dogs and two dead dwarves) so plenty of scope for fillers.

The metal parts (big hats, a few weapons, some heads, shield parts and one torso)are not as well cast sad to say. A lot of cleaning up required and some poor definition. I'm not keen on the mix of many plastic/metal parts as a lot of pinning and superglue is required and I don't like or trust superglue.

The models are slightly bigger than GW dwarfs but I am using them as elites (Obsidian/granite guards, Ironbreakers, Chosen depending on army) so that works fairly well.

On the whole I am pleased with them now they have finally arrived.

I ordered from Maelstrom many times and i have not been disappointed before.  However, i do find their product lines slightly narrower as compared to Wayland since Wayland does GW direct orders, albeit at a high price which is not within their control.

Throw in the complexity of comparing prices inclusive of freight with Maelstrom, Maelstrom works for single impulse low value orders but the scales start tipping towards Wayland towards big orders due to amortization of freight charges.

....Dystopian wars finally arrived today. Shame I'm desperately painting Chaos Dwarfs for a tourney so it is now going to have to go on a shelf for a few weeks. If only it had got here sooner!
