"Rule of Cool" Army Theme... Help Wanted...

Hello folks,

I am tired of trying to find the most tournament orientated army. i wanted something that was cool so i chose Ogre Kingdoms. Now I need a cool theme.

Here is what I have narrowed it down to:

Undead Ogres - What is more scary than a zombie hulking towards you in the middle of the night? A 300lbs zombie hulking towards you. This would be one of the most engrossing modelling wise to get right and get to look undead. A great challenge. Plus who wouldn't like a Vampire Tyrant?

Scottish/Highland  - Simply put an army of tartan nutters. Kilts and claymores! This is solely because I am from Scotland and it is a cliche.

Chaos Ogres (Khorne) - Horned devils coming from the wastes glory for the blood god! Red everywhere and beastmen horns make this army look very striking (in my head)

Chaos Ogres (Nurgle) -  Well if Forge World can do it then so can I. Also Nurglings have more scariness than Gnoblars any day. Rotting bodies and one eyed horned Cyclops Ogres is all good in my eye(s).

Yhetee theme - Not using yethee rules but every Ogre would be one. Again conversion intensive but how cool would big fat Yhetees with ice weapons look.

Lustrian Ogres - From the new world comes a new threat... A Stegadon that throws scrap. Salamander weilding Leadbelchers and Iron Guts with huge skulls on their heads.

So there are what I have come up with for my themes. If you have anything that you think is cool let me know by posting here. On Sunday (1-30-2011) i will go with the one with the most votes for here and my blog. (or just the Coolest if someone posts something cooler)

sure, khorne and nurgle get top billing, but what about an all Slaanesh army.... nipple rings and fetish gear.  but hey, no loves slaanesh like i love shaanesh. 

anyway i vote for undead.  vampire in mastodon armor that just won't die is hilarious!!!!!

By the very definition of the aura of frost rules, the yhetees army has to be the coolest.  Even the undead don't get that cool!

That'd be Yhettee for me as well ! The CLS could become like Frostmourne in Warcraft

If your open to suggestions why not go overboard! Do a Star Wars themed army! Scrap launchers as wooden at-at walkers (or whatever they were) would be awesome and maneaters dressed like desert raiders, Guts as the red guys with the big weapons, bulls in white body armour, Darth Butchers and bobi fett the hunter Ogre. Even involve Jabba the hutt in there as a giant or such. Has to be Empire

SW seems to complex to do a large force though it would be awesome.  Scottish ... i've just never been a fan of.

Yhetee ogres do sound really cool.

I like the idea of khorne ogres though.  You could have some really cool fluff about how that tribe was from the north and ate a greater demon and khornes essence has now spread through out the tribe etc.

Khorne and Nurgle wer chosen for being cool and I don't like the Slaaneshii theme and Tzeentch has been done before and currently is from what I can see.

The Scottish theme is the most cliche theme I could think of but would harken back to my Scottish roots.

So STAR WARS!

Lets see. I would have to convert it all from the Plastic Bulls as the conversion would be tough to do on metal. I could sculpt the various masks and cast them up as I now have some silicon. I'd need to sculpt everyones armour individually which wilst time consuming wouldn't be too bad. The only meh I have about this idea is the army being in a fantasy setting and totally space themed. Although my Gnoblars could be ewoks so this idea is not thrown out.

Ironguts get Long hair, Iron Maiden/Metallica T-shirts and instruments! (After all, guitars are called 'axes' for a reason!! )

Bulls get to be groupies!!

I'm seeing scraplaunchers that consist of a huge marshal amp with a stage full of Gnoblars! Moshing their tiny heads off!!

Gorgers could be the bloke you see late on at a concert, staggering about shouting at his own socks!!

Slavegiants with 'Security' bomber jackets on!! Or modeled to look like Eddie ('im off Iron Maiden...)!!

Failing that ('cos I've run out of exclamation marks...)

I'd go with Scottish (if you promise to do a comedy 'gust of wind blew up a kilt' one)

I like the metal head idea... and the Star Wars one is working on me more. The Roman one has been done (Very well) somewhere on here and whilst I like it it's the least favourite of the 3.

Going by the poll on sunday morning but I'll keep in mind the great ideas here and maybe just maybe have a dice roll off to see where I go with it if the Other ideas out weight the pre selected ones.

have the characters painted up as the members of KISS!!!!
then you'll actually have the KISS ARMY!

There is not enough green stuff to model that tongue!

Looks like Scottish Ogres is winning but still plenty of time to go. I am loving the creativity of you guys. This really is a great forum to be on.

If only I wasn't so bone idle (and had the necessary skill with green stuff).

The tatoos could be skulls and half naked ladies.... Biker tatoos for the win!

If you decide on something else, then I'm totally stealing the Scottish idea.  Bulls with blue stripes and dots on their faces wearing kilts and bagpipes would look SO cool!.

P.S. I'm all for the star wars theme aswell.  There's even a IG head in the battalion that looks exactly like those dudes in red clothes with big guns.

Kilts should be easy enough to do but it will be stopping the trousers of the bulls legs looking rubbish.

I have seen an Ogre army themed as pacific islanders before. It looked REALLY cool, the guy did the ogres with dark skin, some had grass skirts, war paint, head dresses and the whole schebang. The main conversion work was done on the legs though, as he had most of them without pants. Where he got bare Ogre legs or the time to green stuff them, I will never know. Addtionally, he had some with caucasian skin that was sun burned!!! It was awesome!

I vote for chaos ogres (surprise, surprise). Personally I am going to build a chaos ogre army with units from each of the gods, so I won't suggest that.

I'm doing a scottish themed army atm, its good fun. But I think I screwed up the paitn job on the first one...

BigKid the first time I saw your avatar, my eye passed over it and I thought that it was Jack Sparrow from Pirates of The Caribeean, lol.

I vote for the Yhetees as it was one of the reason that I started Ogre in the first place. So see a entire army of them will be sweet.

Yhettee's are the creature on the snow planet (I'm not a big enough geek to remember names ;( ) that captured luke.
You could grab the reek models SW released to use as Rhinox. I grabbed 3 to convert but could easily be used as they are.
